  2. Yeah! Found out after rounded my normal allen keys! The snap on man loves me now! lol
  3. Ok, well some pics from today's action! Basically got it all loose and its just resting tehre now.. Gettig the hoist tomorrow, and the engine will be FREE!! As it sits now What EXACTLY is this..Do I need it, i wanna replace the cureent breather pipe with one of those small piper-x breather filters... i wanna dump this to, but can I? Random shot Trampy me THE HOLE!! Big mess Random bits! My beasty!! Still going ok for 102k car shot Was still light when I finished playing on the corrado, so thought I'd give my leather a clean.. Tomorrow is hoisting day, so by tomoz night I shud be ov
  4. I just got 4 meters of REAL alcantara for £60... Was my mates left over roll, so was lucky to get that.. I'm after more to get my dash fully covered, but I'm finding it to be £50 a meter from some random website on google... But I'm gonna buy the fake alcantara which is just the same apparently, just not as hard wearing (Doesn't exactly matter on a dash board) for £15 a meter! Going to use it for my boot install to.. My friend has this stuff in his car and it's soo like alcantara u can't actually tell its the fake stuff.. My roll of genuine alcantara feels the same, its just harder wearing.. W
  5. Cool.. What aboput the lines on the fuel rail? Can i disconnect them? actualy maybe not as it need to be pumped out doesn't it... I think I'll have to open the boot floor as I have no power in the car anymore.. or go under the car and disconnect a pipe somewhere..lol cheers guys!
  6. In my corrado, I have a near full tnak of petrol! How can I drain most of this out, without harming anything?
  7. Can I not just remove the filler cap? As it looks, i don't need to remove the clear pipe, and guessing thats the fuel one.. I already have one in my 1400, but surely if I leave teh petrol filler open, that'll be ok? I also need to drain the tank as I got near a full tank in there!(another post)
  8. Cool! I've always wanted to get my hands dirty with pulling an engine out and reinstalling it, but never ever thought the first engine I do it to would be a VR! Shudda been a Nova engine or something! talk about learning the hard way... Im about to get up and continue work on it with the cam... So far I've not needed anything special.. Im going to undo the driveshafts now which I KNOOWW is going to be a cnut! I think once they are off I'm laughing, I'll go and order the engine hoist for hire and then pull the lump out with G/B attached.. wudda been easier if I left the subframe in, but it has
  9. Ah ok, cool! Never thought that most VW's had teh carbon cannister thing, even my 1.4 does.. Will keep pics up! Gonna be a misson. got my sticky labels ready and bags to put nuts n bolts in! Already ripped my arms to shreads to!
  10. Ok, I FINALLY pulled my finger out my arse and am starting to pull the engine out of my VR! Well, took alot apart today and found alot of 'TOFFEE' in the engine... guessing water from the coolant system has got in as it does, and the fact i have a hole in the bottom end, probably contributed to it aswell... can anyone explain more? First thoughts were that the head gasket had gone, but alot of people have said it's more than likely that it hasn't... Also I noticed the gasket in between intake manifold is slightly rusty! well, on these pics below... I'd like to know out of interest what these b
  11. Better than standard! But I think Helix Comps are the best! With Focal close behind, but at £300+, not cheap! Dead worth it though, specially if your into ya sounds!
  12. Just ordered a Bently through a mate! £30! [ Edited Fri Jun 25 2004, 02:46PM ]
  13. Is it worth getting this manual? Anyone on here have one, or recommend one worth getting? Thanks
  14. [link]http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1106502 I always seen it done and never thought to do it, think Im going to as I got a TT knob and it sits level with my shoulders!! If it goes wrong, i'll have to put up with it until my VR is fitted! lol
  15. Poo, just found out its a 1997 lump, so Im guessing its a coilpack! My engine is a corrado 1994 ABV.. Dizzy isn't it? Well, what would happen now, if its even compatible? If not, can I just put the bottom block(mechanical side of things) in place of the broken corrado bits.. [ Edited Tue Jun 15 2004, 11:50PM ]
  16. Basically.. If I put a 2.8 Golf lump in place of the 2.9 ump, would it run OK?
  17. Or are those marks, VERY high kerbage marks?
  18. looks like thats under the laquer... Strip the laquer off and give it a good rub with 2000 wet n dry.. that'd come up!
  19. I been told its OK! Get a Mocal kit and mount it in front of the rad. Think it may require some of the inside bumper cut out, but its nothing to worry about as it can't be sen if done properly!
  20. Ah, thats OK then! lol You got pics of how your ones have come up??? I am in 2 minds as to if i shud do it..
  21. Oh yeah, Si... Any ideas where I can get the star socket thing to undo the splits?
  22. Simondo, you got picy's of the wheels you've done?? I thought about chrome, but they are more maintainence and could look tooo 'bling'. You can't loose the RH's for BBS's!! I'm going to have a go at polishing the wheels fully by hand as I found it really easy, just going to be time consuming, but I've got 4 months of doing nothing, so a wheel a day it is! The manifold and block im going to use a machine on as its all flat, so dont have to worry about ruining the shape and applying too much pressure to higher contours. They defo don't rust, look at all the porker rims out there e,t,c, just reg
  23. I didn't realise how easy, yet boring it is! I'm going to fully polish my wheels when I can get the time and sort the hassle of the VR engine out.. But I literally spent 5 mins on one section, just using 80 grade then 1000, then 2000 and I got this... (My spare wheel) Obviously not finished, but wanted to see how difficult it would be! I did one side with paint stripper, and the pictured bits with just pure rubbing down, and I found this to be the best way! Now if I get the polishing kit for a drill, would it be alot quicker, but more chance of messing up and getting an uneven look as it wer
  24. Got a whole new one with motor and everything attached if you decide you want one... Not sure any others fit without looking silly... Polo ones wont work as they are mounted through the glass... Arms from other cas tend to sit the wiper in the middle of the window...
  25. Called EDL.. If it actually does anything, I don't know! All the VR's I've driven have spun up like anything! Glad it doesn't do much, dont like traction control.
