  1. the problem is once you have stripped out the cart it will become very rattly and tinny in tone, not grunty at all. you will probably end up sounding like a boy racer.
  2. yup, pretty sure i will be making this one, want the maps tweeking a bit first though so i can see maximum boost and blow yas all away, mwuah ha ha ha. sorry, didnt meen to be so competative...
  3. the coil is the ignition amplifier... and he is on a 92, therefore dizzy, so it has 1 coil, not a coilpack.
  4. so what do vw winter wheels and tyres look like? and what size?
  5. id say it was your coil, follow the kinglead from the dizzy to the back of the engine bay and there is a small black/silver cube. these overheat and fail. then once cool will work for about 2 mins then die again. i have one spare in my garage if your interested as i converted to coilpack.
  6. the gearbox is very heavy and unbalanced in the bay, this sits to the pass side. this may be why it is lower.
  7. go for FK konigsports, theyre an FK designed coilover but they use koni shcok inserts and have full height and damping adjustment, all from the top too so no need to crawl under the car to adjust them. most people have good things to say about them as theyr firm but not too hard. i fitted mine to my cab and didnt even notice a change in ride comfort set at half on the damping setting. ill let everyone else chime in to back me up.
  8. first sparky to shout up. should class myself as an electrical engineer but all i do is fit switches and sockets, lol.
  9. nah, dont bother with lowering compression with the stage one as you will basically cause more lag and end up with about 3psi of boost. as long as the car is running well when boosted it should last. basically i fitted a new manifold and downpipe from audspeed in canada, but with this it means that the turbo position does not fit therefore all of the pipework does not fit either, but if it is kinetic that are designing a mani then they will incorporate all of this into the kit. if you were to keep the old parts removed then it is pretty reversable, but would mean a big pile of parts in the gar
  10. yes from quaife at great expense, there is the posability of an 02J box internals from one of the later golf 4 motions, or leon/ibiza cupras etc... and using these internals with a standardbell housing, slightly modded to hold the 6th.
  11. connect it to the hose coming from the back of the intake mani. its the easiest to route the pipework to the gauge. i have my boost controller, wastegate and dump valve all Tee'd off from that.
  12. thats the kit that i got imported, and it does not fit rhd, but i know of a manifold that does and it fits very well. its a very good kit though recomended to anyone with big balls, lol.
  13. yes all 02A boxes came with the golf club weight.
  14. oh, and kinetic motorsport are the company that designed and make the kits, bahn brennar are just a dealer for their stuff. i think c2 have also started selling the kinetic kits so ultimatetune may be able to sort some pricing out for the kits. the idea with the stage 1 kit was to give people the chance to go turbo without costing a packet, and with a 9 psi spring in the wastegate will be very fun on the road, should see 280 wheel horsepower quite easily. check the the media sections of the site for loads of pictures of the design/install work. the kit looks stock once its in there, and is onl
  15. JAKE standard piston size for a 2.8 is 81mm bore, at 10:1 compression ratio. JE do a number of pistons with varying spec. bores 81mm - 2.8l 82mm - 2.9l 83mm - 3.0l (ish, 2.95l) 83.5mm - real 3.0l (3.045l or something) compression ratios. 10:1 - standard 9:1 - turbo/supercharger 11:1 (i think) - NA high powered tuning. all very similar prices, just made to order, but only takes a week or so in most cases. KEV never really looked into the cranks as i just wanted a low cost rebuild to lower compression, but thought if im taking it apart may as well take it out to 3.0l id imagine the abt to be ver
  16. bmc cda, sucks in no hot air. recomend it totally. they do quieten the growl a little though being a box style design.
  17. a few links to tease ya... after first fitting, and a little tuning, tried the full rev range of the car. listen to that garrett spool up at 3500 revs http://www.swankhouse.com/swank/albums/VRmonster/vrt.wmv and this is what it goes like before and after fitting the kit. http://www.swankhouse.com/swank/albums/VRmonster/before_and_after_vrt.wmv and this is what happens if you run 16psi through a standard engine because you connected the wastegate up wrong, lol. looks like a diesel. http://www.swankhouse.com/swank/albums/VRmonster/unhealthy_VRT.wmv im ano the verge of getting mine back on the r
  18. once the arches are off, if the paint is ok and not rusted then that is all you need to do to the arches. the black ones you have are just like covers. the side trim will need to be changed for de arched stuff though as it has a little recess where the arch used to be. but thats not too much hassle. im doing my cabrio in about 10 mins.
  19. got my 3.0l JE 9.0:1 CR pistons from hp motoring in the US (they sell on ebay.) worked out at about
  20. thats the kit i got first time round, Kinetic motorsport (http://www.kineticmotorsport.com) its a very well made kit with everything you need included. would suit your car nicely warren. like i said, i have the manifold and downpipe here for a small fee if your interested. the only issue you will have is the tuning as i dont think the c2 chips work on euro ecu's. but nothing a piggy back unit wouldnt sort out as with the bigger injectors and maf housing you dont need to tune too much, mainly ignition anyway so plenty of room to play. get saving man. we need the uk to see more VRTs.
  21. well just so you know there is no oil whatsoever inside that area but can leak very easily down from the rocker to the back of the gearbox. also a little piece of sticky foam from a door seal would be a better option to the silicone as the area should really be breathable to let the clutch get cool air to it.
  22. nice write up kev. i went for eibach arb for that exact reason, i was advised that the neuspeed front was overkill. i decided on fk coilovers though as a lot of people say they have the best comfort yet can be stiff as you like, lol. and at
  23. this isnt really needed, its just to stop dirt and grime from entering the clutch/flywheel housing, but if you nip the bolts up enough it shouldnt matter anyway. i asked at vw if they do it but they said theyve never heard of it. i think you have to buy the whole metal cover with the seal attatched.
