oh, I just love MK2 VRs. VW should have built this car... very nice.

Hello again. Managed to fit some S3 seats in the mk2 but wondering if anyone had a diagram of the heated seat elements to the heated switch. There appear to be substantially more wires in the switch than the seat. Thanks

blue will be old G11 at best. G12 is pink and G12+ is purple. One problem is that most other cheaper coolant is blue so you may well have some Halford's best in your motor. The issue is that G11 will be okay with G12 but other non-VW coolants should not be mixed. Unless the garage had an old stock of G11 it would seem likely that you've got some non-VW coolant. Get yourself back down for it changing free-of-charge now that you know more than them. Good luck

if you've got to bump it off (ooh er missus!) try to get some speed up and lift the clutch slowly. I know this is Grandma and sucking eggs tackle but if you lift it too quick you jolt the motor and box and test the engine mounts to the limit. If you lift the clutch slowly and don't have any speed you'll just stop. Sorry if I'm patting you on the head but I've pushed some cars further than I've driven them and have seen most bump-starting scenarios. Those vibratechnics mounts aint cheap.

Will a G60 supercharger fit a golf VR6?
uber-tub replied to matth76's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
Speak to Darren at G-Werks or look on www.dubforce.net . The folks on there will put you straight - the site is solely for forced-induction VWs. -

5x120 to 5x100 wheel adaptors
uber-tub replied to francisjonno's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
can't see this being a problem at all... try Justmatz or Gwent VW or any of those dudes in the mags. really straight-forward thing to make. -
Quite fancy a silver '60s Merc 230SL Pagoda ala Kate Moss... or an Aston Martin DB2/4 or DB5... or '72 911 2.4S in Bahama Yellow... or 250GT Lusso/ California (think Ferris Bueller)... or most of all a Muira in purple but will have any colour at a push. Hmmm. Looks like I'll have to save up for the next 6544 years.

Can the side strips on the doors be replaced?
uber-tub replied to matth76's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
just slide the strip to the rear... the white clips fit into a slot in the strip. They slide in sideways so slide out sideways. The basic GTi strips are about -
LOL. yey on the shoes and shopping...

I Am A Pleb, - Need a Gearbox - Quick.
uber-tub replied to Veedubbed's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
might be the most stupid thing in the world to say but... The only time i've ever knackered a diff was when my old '65 Cooper spat a handful of 5/8 bearings out of the diff casing. They has been cought between cogs with nowhere to go except be forced out like bullets through the casing. Any bearings floating about? -
engine speed sensor location
uber-tub replied to silverline's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
That's a great help. I would never have found it... -
once got a 'rado g60 down to 14.. on a blast round the back roads of Skipton. But if you set off from cold real careful you could get 70+ until you actually pressed the gas and then it was back down quickly.

Hello all. Got some heated electric S3 seats from a breakers. Unfortunately the leather was rotten and just came aprt in your hands, so... one very expensive drunken decision later and they were off to be re-trimmed by Richard at Wizzard Interiors (formally of MJ Interiors). Thr fronts are just waiting for the head rests: The rears had to be cut down in size by 80mm as they stuck up over the parcel shelf otherwise. I'll get some pics when they are in the car... Also went for some different style doorcards. Richard was reluctant to trim them as requested but when they were done he was well pl

URGENT HELP - worst nightmare come true
uber-tub replied to cadguy77's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
Ha ha ha whooo ahha ah. Sorry. Just the thought of decent honest machanics made me laugh. I'm sure there are plenty of honest mechanics and decent ones but those with both qualities seem the stuff of legends. Sorry to hear your car is poorly but I wouldn't be too quick to reach for the cheque book - the bloke you spoke to may be trying to rustle up some business. You do the right thing in seeking another opinion. I would hope there would have been more symptoms of the bottom end etc before the breakdown. Good luck mate.
