    holy poo. Well, that's 75 chops down the swanny! Like and learn... except, can I get an OBD2 top half inlet manifold to suit the OBD1 motor? Can't be any difference in the inlet port positions in the head, surely? Note to self: Research first then buy, repeat x 10. Thanks for your help, see you all on Sunday. mik.

    There's a ClubGTI meet first monday in the month at 'The Squinting Cat' in Panel near Harrogate. That's usually a good meet, PhatVr6 hosts it I think. Wonder if it could accommodate some more VRs. I'm in Skipton in sunny North Yorks... quite a few VWs around here. There's a great pub carpark at The Dog and Gun in Crosshills near Keighley, which, coincidentally would save me loads of petrol. Shame about the mile-long straight country road just outside though!

    can obd1 and obd2 TBs be interchanged? I have just mailordered a ported TB but aren't sure if it will suit my OBD1 inlet? very bright, I know.

    Oh man, what a dreadful story. I agree with purpledragon - trading standards is the way to go. If the firm is dodgy then I wouldn't bother with court as you need to be sure there is a chance of recovering your money and that the firm wont do a dissappearing act. If you need any help with court action feel free to PM me as my missus works at county court and is a bright as lightbulb pie. Mik.

    Hello. Just noticed VRmonster is looking at 3.0l conversion but didn't want to hi-jack the post. Can anyone give me a bit more info on upping the cc of the VR? Can the 2.8 simply be bored out to 3.0l or do you have to increase the stroke? Is the 2.9 a stroked version of the 2.8 or bored? Thanks. mik.

    thanks folks. Is it necessary to use vernier pulleys or can the existing pulleys be used with performance cams?

    I know I'm as thick as a donkey sandwich but could some kind soul tell me if performance cams need to be bought in pairs for the 12V motor? Piper, Kent and Schrick seem to sell them singularly. Ta. mik.

    Hello all. I have a mk2 VR. Engine has a dizzy, does this make it OBD1? If so can I use the OBD11 interface cable for the car-to-laptop jiggery-pokery, or do I need to find OBD1 specific cables? Does it need to be a Dual-K cable? And finaly, does anyone know where the software might be found? Cheers. mik.

    Turbo is a must. If you've got deep pockets 1000bhp isn't out of the question. On the other hand if you want to actually drive the car 350bhp is stage one tackle.

    Just been rooting around my local breaker's yard and spotted an A4 avant with rather large front calipers. They were single pot or single opposed (not sure). Just wondered if anyone knew if these would bolt up to Mk2 16V hubs and if so would the 280mm G60 four stud discs suit? Basically I'm wanting to upgrade the brakes on my mk2 VR as they are currently dogpoo. I am running 9x16 Borbet As so cant go with huge diameter. Any advice would be appreciated.Mik.

    I am thinking of putting mk4 rear calipers on the mk2. I know i have to wind the piston back in but how far back out do I wind then to suit the mk2 disks, or will they self-adjust?

    Good point about the guns... although he didn't need to familiarise himself with doing 63 in a 30 zone though. What a nob... how do you justify that?

    I have a MK2 Golf with OBD1 2.8 VR. Will the Samco hose kit suit this set up or will I find the radiator etc, pipes don't reach. I have a Corrado rad.

    Ive only got 178bhp and 189lbs/ft torque witha filter and cat bypass... bugger!
