I've got a lot of steam coming from left side of the engine (be air filter) looks like its the head gasket - or is there anything else it could be? If it is the head - what else should I get done at the same time? (I don't want to take the head off again) I can't tell you what the mileage is as I bought it off flea bay and they said it had done 20k - it don't rattle much of startup but does use a little oil so i'm not going by what they told me! How much am I looking at for the job to be sorted? ANd can you recomend somewhere that can collect car from wiltshire and get the work done?

Well my daughter (kimberley - 8lb 12) finally arrived 10 days late on Tues eve. She will soon be enjoying the joys of VR6 motoring from her car seat! To say i'm chuffed is an understatement!

Your fairly near me and im after a garage near me that knows what its talking about when i get any engine work done! Good luck with your problems Jay - keep us updated! Sounds like i've got the same problem as you with smoke on the overrun! (

Been spending loads lately myself - but I don't see the point in not doing it and losing all the cash i've splashed out over the last year. Everytime I think about getting rid of the VR I just take it for a blast!!! I'd never get the cash back i've spent!!

Had something like this on mine - the V8 sound was coming from the small pipe that attaches to the manifold - my small rubber 'bung' had disintigrated allowing exhaust fumes to escape. May not be the same on yours but worth checking! The missing could be a plug breaking down - or even plug leads again - aparently (i was told) VR6s eat plugs and leads!

I would assume you just disconnect the battery for half hour to reset the ecu?

Where is the best/cheapest place to get a Big Valve Head or alternatively get my cylinder head rebuilt? I'm getting some oil burning which i'm sure is down to stem seals or worn guides. Anyone help? Could do with some idea on prices if getting rebuilt is an option. Cheers

On the manifold on my engine (OBD1) I have a small pipe that comes out of the manifold with a ribber bung on the end - what does it do? My bung has somehow got damaged and is letting exhaust fumes out - where can i get a new one or can i just weld up the hole?
