  1. I can confirm it is a metal Hazet one that VW sell, tool part number T10029 and looks exactly the same as the one in the link on the previous page. All for under £20. I think some VW dealers can be a bit funny about supplying them though, so if they say no try another dealer, or I can get the number for VW up here and they can probably do them mail order.
  2. If you go into your local vw dealer it costs about £15 There useless at finding it on there parts computer so the reference number is T10029
  3. The corrados also have a different inlet manifold and throttle body to give a bit more top end as well. Have these been fitted or were the golf ones reused?
  4. Without the leather maybe, but if it is in good condition, under 100k with history then £4500 no problem.
  5. The mk3 16v pump is only 3 bar. Corr28VR6's will be more like the mk2 16v pump, where its got a lift pump in the tank and the main pump under the car. This pump is more powerful than the vr's pump as the old K-Jet mechanical injection required a very high fuel pressure and returned more fuel to the tank than the car actually used. Go with either, could work out cheaper getting the vr pump as the actual pumps are about the same price but with the vr pump you only need to run a standard fuel line, with the 16v pump if you try to replace everything you have after it falls apart it wont be cheap.
  6. Yeah, the 288 setup will fit fine as long as you use the late mk3 vr disks. If you go for 312 then the offset is wrong so u need spacers. You could probably use the same spacers for the 312 disks to fit mk4 288 disks.
  7. Dont worry about hijacking the thread, ive sort of got the problem fixed. I know for definate now the fuel pump is gubbed, new problem is that ECP sold me the wrong pump to replace it so im back there tommorow. What do you mean by no signal sent? At the relay or at the fuel pump? There wont be a signal at the fuel pump until the starter is engaged. (Test across the 2 thicker wires, thinner ones are for the fuel gauge sender.)
  8. Cool, cheers. Youv backed up what ive seen on a few other forums so it looks like im needing a new fuel pump. The joys. Better than being the immobiliser though, at least its something I can sort myself.
  9. My '95 corrado vr6 cut out today and now wont start. The fuel pump is no longer coming on with the ignition. Theres 4 wires going into the fuel pump, anyone know what they all do? So far ive got 1 thick wire - Earth 1 thin wire - switched, 10volts when ignition is on 1 thin wire - dunno what this is for 1 thick wire - I thought this should be a main power feed, but theres nothing. i put a direct feed from the battery on to this and still nothing. Im thinking the pump is knackered, but as theres 2 wires im not sure about then it could be immobilised? Fuse 18 is fine, though there doesnt
  10. That plug doesnt do anything on uk vr's. Its something to do with exaust gas recirculation on american cars.
  11. I think the disks are a different offset so dont fit. Calipers carriers and hoses should be ok though.

    2.9 & 2.8

We had a thread about this over on the corrado forum, it turns out the 3.6 final drive was fitted to the american corrado slc (vr6). The uk corrado uses the same final drive as the golf though I think they have different gearbox codes so there may be other differences.
  13. Dont use Dot 5, its silicon based and rots the seals. It also expands with heat so can cause ure brakes to jam on. What you need is Dot 5.1, its basically a higher temp rated Dot 4 and lasts longer too, only about a tenner a litre at halfords and will do a better job than anybodys Dot 4.
  14. Where is Castle Combe near? Its not on the multimap. Probably too far for me but will look into it.
  15. The Vortech charger is better (VF). It has its own oil feed wheras the z charger has its own oil bath thing inside it. The Vortech charger can also handle more boost by fitting smaller pulleys but the z charger is already near its limit. Another advantage of the Vortech is it is less prone to belt slip. Personally I would look into getting a charger kit from http://www.c2motorsports.net/ they use a larger charger than VF engineering and you get more for your money. I think it may be difficult geting a hold of over here though as I dont think they have a uk distributor.
  16. On the brakes hard, as you turn in release some pressure on the brakes, but not completely. Stay on the brakes till u feel the back end start to step out slightly then smoothly onto the accelerator and back off the steering slightly and away you go. [ Edited Sat Jul 03 2004, 09:49PM ]
  17. If your shocks are ok I would suspect the top mounts, rears are cheap and a doddle to replace, not sure about the fronts. Got to be worth a go, ill email u a pic of old vs new ones as I dunno how to attach a pic. What the pic doesnt show is how much softer the rubber is on old top mounts compared to new ones.

    VR6 Vs BMW M3

The older shape 2 door imports also had an adjustable centre diff. Think they were called the wrx sti version (1-6or7) Type R. (Type R was the 2 door with adjustable centre diff, stiffer suspension and possibly no abs.)
  19. mk4 288 calipers and carriers are the same as mk3 288's. You need to make sure you get disks from a mk3 though as there offset is different.
  20. Ive got powerflex on my corrado and dont get any of that, cant see why it would cause it on a golf either. Have you checked the tyre pressures since you had the new tyres fitted? I dont think ive ever had new tyres put on and found them at the factory pressures.
  21. The ecu wires fairly easy to find, if you look at the connector you will see the numbers of some of the pins and 22 is right at the one side so its easy enough to figure it out.
  22. I dont think it makes a big difference tbh, I got a set of drilled disks and the holes are in an angled pattern the same as them grooves. Both disks are the same though so they spiral out to the front at one side and to the back at the other.
