  2. No the US Mk4 VR6 used a 12v VR6 engin with OEM Variable Intake.
  3. Change the plugs and leads if it still doing it get the error codes checked. A R Reg VR has a coil pack insted of a distributer check the coil pack for cracks that damp could get in.

  6. use carb cleaner to clean inside. you will get some oil in the manifold form the breather on the cam cover
  7. MK4 head gasket will give you higher compression not good if you want to go for forced induction inthe future. you might as well put a Lightened Flywheel in as well
  8. My 2.9 made 191Bhp and 185 lbft On OBD2 and stander 2.8 manifold.

  10. The Mk3 has the A59 kit on. A prototype kit made for VW motorsport
  11. don't own but have a passat TDI for work.
  12. Would have needed a new/reground crank, con-rod plus all the other bits needed for a rebuild. Midland VW looked at it and at the time had a good 2.9 engin they fitted insted of repairing the old one.
  13. sounds like my old engin big end bering on cyl 1 had spun in the con rod allowing the piston to hit the head.

  15. Think about £90 from VW. Thats a mk4 in the pic may be diffrent.
  16. The hose that goes to the bottom of the expansion tank goes to the electric water pump next to the coil pack. They leak as well.
  17. The hose goes from the rad to thermostate housing and the smaller hose from the T goes to the expansion and the throttle body. The thermostate housing can leak and could cover the coil pack with water

  19. you could try to get police to contact the last registered keeper for any detailes of who it was sold to. But that would mean them doing some work. or give you the detailes so you can was a nice clean highline
