  1. it only does it when starting from cold, and only when the engine has just started. if the car has been warmed up, it does it less or barely at all
  2. think front left of the engine bay as you sit in the car
  3. When i turn the keys the engine starts ok but there is a funny noise for a bout 2 seconds sounding like a grinding noise. The comp displays 1001 flashing and then disappears to show mileage. Is this a problem? tks
  4. Guys, there is a leak from the front left of my vr6, not a majot leak but having left the car in the garage for the weekend i came back to find a dinner plate sized puddle , not deep at all, sitting benearh the front left of the bumper. THe liquid is blue/green in colour and slightly oily. If you can tell me what this is and how serious it is, i would appreciate it tks
  5. def not 4 wheel drive, i drove across germany in the snow and was all over the place... I feel like tom crusie in days of thunder..... dont know shit about mechanics
  6. not sure if it is a 2.9 syncro, it is a german car imported into holland which was orginially sold with a corrado engine i think. It came with OZ Racing Rims too. To be honest i am not as fanatical about vr6s as you guys though i love driving it, very very fun. And yes, was offered 5000euros. If I cant get a decent one in the UK then maybe i will imprt it and run it into the ground over next few years. It is still in a great condition.
  7. Gents I currently live in Holland and have a german import 2.9 1996 VR6 highline. It is all as original, no mods with 111,000km on the clock. It is in very good condition having passed its MOT equivalent with no work requried (thank fuck) I am going to move back to the UK and dont know if i should sell it or import it. It cost me 6000euros a year ago and have been offered 5000 for it. Is it worth selling and buying a car in UK or just import it. What would a similar age/mileage one cost in UK. Is it a real hassle to import it? cheers for your thoughts
  8. why not sell the vr6, add the 4 1/2 and save for an imported 911. Not entirely sure why people would spend so much moddíng a car which will still at the end of the day be a vw golf. Save up for a car which is bad ass in the first place. I bought a VR6 cos it is quick and fun for now, I will sell it to buy a late 90s M3 next year or maybe a 2 seater. Your VR6 with 4500gbp improvements is not a good investment whereas approx 10k gbp is a good way towards a nice M3 or porsche. Bear in mind what you could do with that cash, add ons to a VR6 will quickly become worthless
  9. thanks guys, this is easier than talking to foreign mechanics.... are all the coolants good for cold weather? I have some blue stuf which is long life but have pink stuff in there....?!
  10. Gents it is about time i put some more coolant in, i am driving to the alps tomorrow and need to know what type to top up with, can i mix with another type? do i need a specific type? cheers
  11. I live in the Hague, Holland (i'm english, from london) and drive a german import 1996 vr6 2.9. It has done 104,000km I've had it for 3 months and it purrs away fine but I think it is time for a service. So get this, i drove down to my local KwiKFit, to see if i could book the car in for a service. I pull up outside the place to be approched by these two chumps smoking fat doobies. I asked them about servicing and they asked to buy my car, not ideal so i locked it and walked in to the reception. Inside was another chump standing there in his kwikfit unifrom drinking a beer smoking a larg
  12. hey, i'm new to this site, i have a german import 1996 vr6 2.9 3dr, today it sounded a little rough and seemed to be misfiring. I added oil to the engine yesterday , premium shell oil, was the best the shop had, i'm not too techinical on these things, yet. would this cause it ? is it temporary or do i need to get to a garage asaFp?
