vrs are better with the neuspeed stat in ..if you dont want advise dont ask (as for quoting from a book ...does the book list vr6 engines ? the vr engine design is like no other engine) the neuspeed stat is same as standard stat but open a little earyer to keep peak temps down.....its not like your removing it!
its at the back of head, gearbox side .if your changing it be sure you get correct one as there are two types.if your car has 100k on clock i would advise to change the lot and if you have old type change to later top blade and tensioner bolt
will be leads,mine was fine till i changed plugs (carefully with proper tool) and the leads just started arcing .have a look in the dark it will be easy to see the arcing
beware when changing disks that your hubs are are not warped,as i have seen ppl put two sets of disks on thinking that the disks are warped when its the hubs
