  1. Ive just bought an induction kit from ebay for £58 including postage. It is a blitz style stainless steel induction kit made by piper cross and comes complete with all fixtures and fittings. It has made a difference in performance and makes the vr6 sound awesome! There is also one for sale on ebay at the moment, click on link below: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/volkswagen-golf-vr6-induction-kit_W0QQitemZ120011248855QQihZ002QQcategoryZ36680QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  2. My vr6 has done 65k miles. So i think i will try the tensioner bolt first. Hopefully this should reduce the niose on the chain.
  3. Just been doing some searching around the forum and have found that a slightly noisy chain can be cured by changing the timing chain tensioner bolt. Can anyone possily show me a pic of the location of the bolt and how involved it is to change it? Thanks.
  4. Hi, Any idea how much a cam chain tensioner costs and how to fit it?
  5. Thanks mate, now another question. Please click on the link below and see the part i have circled, this is where the fluid is leaking from. http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d192/zedgt/vr6oildrain2.jpg Any idea what this might be and can you get a gasket / replacement part for it?
  6. the cap on the bottom of the gearbox looks like this (click on link): http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d192/zedgt/GearOilLeak.jpg Am i assuming that this is where the gearbox oil drain plug is? Also how do u check the gearbox oil level? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
  7. If anyone wants to know how to change the serpentine belt tensioner or grease the bearings that can become very noisy then there is a very good website i have found called www.vwvortex.com. Click on the link below if you want to know how to do the above as there is a step by step guide with pictures too. http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1138497
  8. Hi, Firstly how do you check the gear oil level in a vr6? I have a small leak just under the gearbox from a small plate that has 2 bolts and a vw logo embossed in the middle. Is this where you drain the gearbox oil from? The plate looks like this (Please click on link): http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d192/zedgt/GearOilLeak.jpg Is there a gasket that needs to be changed to stop the leak? Any help would be appreciated.
  9. Well what i will probably do is change the belt tensioner and do an oil and filter change on the car. If the noise is still there then i assume it must be the timing chain tensioner. Anyone know how easy or difficult it is to change the timing chain tensioner?
  10. If it is the cam chain tensioner is this part easy to fit and where is it located?
  11. Under the car near the gearbox there is a small cap that has 2 bolts and a vw sign in the middle. I have found there is a slight amount of fluid on the bolts. Any idea what this fluid is and does it simply need a gasket changing? Thanks.
  12. Sorry about all the quastions but never had a vr6 before. Exactly which tensioner needs changing???
  13. Just started the car from cold and the power steering is very quiet. Whining noise occurs as the car warms up. Power steering fluid level is on maximum level.
