It's alive! https://vimeo.com/127356810 Another box ticked on my bucket list.......own a supercharged car! Love that noise!

Got a few more bits done this week, not as much as I would have liked as works been busy and I've been waiting on bits including the longer belt for the charger that's coming from America and is silly

Finally had some time recently to get a start on fitting the air ride onto the car, I managed to get a hardly used Airlift V2 digital set up with twin compressors at reasonable price, Started with s

So I got bored at lunch the other day and started unbolting things on my spare engine, it's got piper 264 cams in it , 900713f018f22ccf491cdb84ce16edb9.jpg, the rest of the engine seems in pretty good shape according to my co workers as I have no idea about these things! All a bit new to me. ef51384390843e3027d837736ab8bb09.jpgaf7f417519d4805c42a15b95f922181d.jpgcfe6e70bf51cdceeddc378e31330fb44.jpg

Now could do with some advice as to what I should be replacing/uprating when putting this back together? Will be getting the or a supercharger on it at some point, so not going to be going for 500bhp with a turbo conversion or anything like that. Is it worth going for a metal head gasket, arp bolts, or having any head work done? Apart from a skim obviously.

Also gave it a big clean earlier ready for Players tomorrow as it's 10mins down the road from me. 678c960f3b3bfeebc1d0dee90e07d196.jpg2067daaa2c902937ead21e34bc34095f.jpg192ceef1914aa2d1ce0bc74a0f22c334.jpg

It came apart surprisingly easily! This engine stuffs easy lol! As for putting it back together errr..........The hardest bit was the lower timing chain cover because it was on the stand,I couldn't get it out! The boss don't mind got his head up his arse with his pub as usual so probably won't notice!

Finally got some pictures taken of the golf with a proper camera not a phone! This was at Players Show on Sunday; also got some bigger spacer/adaptors to get the wheels sitting a bit better in the arches so I've now got 45mm's on the front and 40mm's on the back and still no rubbing! ;-)

:o That shine is insane!  i am in love.

With your engine, I am following  your thread carefully so I know what too do on mine. I am thinking of doing the cambelt and probably the piston rings on mine if that helps you at all.

What you thinking of changing/upgrading to yours?

  • 1 month later...

They're compomotive th mono's, always loved them and they came up at the right price so I bought em! Now I'm not to sure if they go on the golf, I think I'd paint them a pale gold but maybe with matt laquer if I keep em. Though I think Bealieboy likes them quite a lot and he keeps sending me pictures of diamond cut ones so I might look into that!
