if it aint one thing its another with my vr, ive gotta book it in for the chain guides asap, at a cost thats breaking my heart, ive had to replace the box, just ordered complete new rear brakes ,disks, pad, calipers and bearings, and now i just got squirted in the eye by a pin hole in the bloody rad while looking for where some steam was coming from, oh and ive just had to replace the boot lid coz it was rotten and the only decent one i could find was from a lower spec model with no spoiler and in a different colour :-(

please some one convince me all this money and heart ache is going to be worth it, i really cant afford it any more, all the money ive spent on it i could of bought something in better nick, and coz of all the money ive had to spend and still have to cough up, i cant afford to super/turbo charge it

look at it this way mate, after you have had this little spending spree it will be MINT and then you can keep it for years with no worries.

i had the same about 3 years ago, had new brakes all round, wheel bearings, exhaust, tyres, engine mounts, lower wishbones and track rod ends all in about 9 months !!!! :o

since then it has been plain sailing (except the radiator blowing up!!) and i still love it as much as the day i got it.

remember new cars aren't any different, they still break down on you, bleeding things! :@

the way i see it is its a labour of love, a bloody expensive one but all the same, its just i thrown more money at it than i paid for it because i couldnt afford a decent one at the time, its just getting really frustrating that everytime i fix one thing something else goes wrong lol, so money i save for modifications has to go on yet more repairs, like i saved for wheels and blew the gear box, i saved for engine goodies and now the brakes and rad muck up, the only things i have managed to do is get the coil overs on and get it stuck in the weeds and fitted a universal exhaust myself that looks terrible, oh and i just put a boot lid on coz mine was rotten but the only decent one was from a lower spec with no spoiler, lol, and its bloody red, i hate red cars, considering i only use the car for 6 days a month its literally breaking everytime i use it, thank god for rac thats all i can say lol,

I'm feeling ya mean cos i'm sorta in the same boat atm. Exhaust back box has rotted and fallen off, the rusted exhaust pipe that goes over the rear axle has melted something back there and the ABS is playing up (dodgy braking), rear wheel bearing has gone, my LC-1 wideband isn't working properly nor is my new fuel press. gauge, plus others things.

It all builds up, but i'm keeping the faith, saving the pennies and getting it all sorted for next years season.

Chin up mate, life could be a lot worse

So if you have all spent so much money can anyone tell me if the knocking I am getting is the engine mount on the gear box side.

I've changed the steering rack, track rod end, and drop link. I've checked the bottom ball joint and it's fine but I still get a knocking at low and moderate speed but it seems to go on the power.

The mount needs changing caus it's been leaking for a bit now, I hope to get it done when I do the chains.

Also If I buy uprated ones do I need to do all 3. God I hope she goes good after this it is getting expensive

i bought mine with no experience of VRs,

got it home the exhaust fell off, hall sensor was in bits in the dizzy, abs was fucked and bodged up, suspension needed changing, and it had just been MOTed?? since then i have replaced tailgate, 2x wings, drivers door, F+R bumpers, interior.. wheel bearings, front disc and pads... exhaust, engine mount, head gasket, head, timing chains and guides.... list goes on..

but when i look at it now its all worth while, shes cum a long way in a yr and a bit!!

stick with it, fix the problems least u will know ur have a sound car at the end of it...

im not feeling so down about it now, was just a kick in the nuts having to constantly cough up my hard earned to keep it going when i use it so little, also the cost of repairs aint just expensive they always pop up when ive saved for my next mod so that dont get done, just tired of always having to fix it when i already got the finished car pictured in my head, still atleast it gives me something to work towards
