  1. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-GOLF-MK2-MK3-GTI-CORRADO-OIL-COOLER-C306-/200561642242?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2eb267cb02 the oil cooler {heat exchanger} might not be at fault, just think how oil and coolant could mix? head gasket? cracked engine? idk hope its not bad what ever your problem is,
  2. mine normaly idles around 700,but can idle at around1000, has it been raining? lol my corrado is absolutley terrible for getting a damp MAF plug, and when its damp it'll idle high and can run crap, squirt wd40 or other water repelant in the MAF connection plug, other then that make sure your ht leads are seated properly, hope this helps,,
  3. basicaly my maf lead goes around the outside of the strut tower, and the water comes in off the bonnet and around the scuttle tray area and follows down the inside of the wing into the engine bay, covering my battery and tray in water and same with the maf side of the engine and because my maf lead is close to the wing the water gets on it somehow, bonnet fits fine btw all the gaps etc are fine, its deffo the maf because like i said it was flooded and i have to spray the connection with water repelant like wd40 and its spot on after that, tryed turning the maf so the plug is at its highest poin
  4. dont know what mk3's are like but if its anything like a mk4 , ,with those three bolts removed you should be able to pull the wheel bearing/hub housing out away from the wishbone which will then give you enough room to connect the driveshaft back up to the gearbox, just give it a tugg to pull the ball joint out of the wishbone,
  5. i have the same thing, expect i dont have a miss fire,im prety sure its down to the exhaust system, my corrado has a flippin 4" drain pipe back box from the previous owner and im certain this is why !! i used to own a mk4 golf that did this after i had fitted a scorpion catback and before that it was very quiet and would never pop n crackle, something to do with back pressure?
  6. if there sealed cartridge bearings? then they wont just slide on, idealy you will need to press the center section of the bearing on over the axle, how did the old one come off? done mine on my corrado, but there roller taper bearings and they just slide on the stub axle.
  7. let it idle or run it without the belt, you will have no powersteering, a/c {if you have a/c} and alternator wont be chargeing, but atleast you can tell if its any bearings from those units.process of elimination...oh yea dont run it for to long as the water pump wont be running!!!!
  8. if theres still threads left on the track rod, just cut it down a few mm so the rod end can come in abit more.
  9. im running mobil 10-40w and the g12 iv used was a 50/50 mix , but ive also read what chief vr says above, also its not just an anti freeze its also inhibits corrosion so dont go without thinking your be running super cool,if in doubt just read the label on the coolant and it will tell you the exact recomended mix ratio,
  10. idd check to see if the ht leads are correctly seated,
  11. good choice! if not im sure turk could probably sort it, let us know how you get on..
  12. not sure exactly what you mean? but the thread length on my plug is 19mm aslong as the coil can bite enough thread so it can be done up tight without striping it should be fine, but like i said, to be on the safe side rather then drill into your motor, do it all on scrap metal first then tighten down the insert then put the plug in nice and tight and see if it holds if it does your sorted!!, when i used heli coil it was only for an m6 bolt and the coil threads didnt exatly match properly but it worked..good luck hope it goes well!
  13. hi m8, small world!! im also from the rock! aka guernsey, just looked up my spark plugs for my vr6 and its a 14mm thread so in theory the kit you got should be fine, are you only thinking the inserts to big because its a slopy fit on the plug? if i remember correctly {its been a few years since i used heli coil} the insert will get slightly smaller when its skrewed into the metal, get a scarp peice of metal and drill a hole and basicaly test it out, it might be ok
  14. problem solved, the MAF plug was flooded with water, must of flowed down the cable, gota figure out how to stop the water from doing it again.
  15. hi ,on my corrado i had the engine running whilest i was washing the dust off my bonnet and it suddenly cut out, i first thought that water must of got in some where ? it started back up first time! but now idles badley and the revs is up and down and cuts out on me, i tryed driveing it to warm the engine bay up but every time you take the power off it cuts out and jumps around like a kangaroo!! any ideas ? i would of thought its the isv but it was fine before i washed the bonnet, its got to be water related, btw this happened yesterday so it should be enough time for it to dry out, the previ
  16. ah thanks,i didnt see that bit, yea its obd1 and havnt changed anything,
  17. yea thats exactly what i think m8, but why does it say herehttp://wiki.the-corrado.net/vr6_ecu_reset_procedure.html that it should also been done on vag com? wierd, gona take mine for a good blast later.
  18. nobody know? well let me put it in a different context, whos disconnected there battery before? and did you get basic settings done via vag com afterwards? if not still running ok?
  19. hope you find the problem, dont give up, cars love to eat your £, do you loose any coolant? any coolant mixing with oil in the oil sump/engine?
  20. in my opinion the only thing going for mk3 golfs is a vr motor, otherwise its just a golf, atleast a mk4 golf can have the R32 look about them, iv just recently brought a corrado vr6 and due to the price i paid it needs abit of work doing to but i knew that,if i was anybody else thinking i have snapped up a bargain idd be disapointed and probably would be pulling my hair out about the little bits of work that needs doing and keeps popping up,they are getting on abit now, want a good hassel free corrado? pay the price, otherwise be prepared to do some work to it,for me its deffo the corrado over
  21. hi all, disconected the battery the other day to reset the ecu but just found out that once the ecu has learnt the settings that you should get basic settings done via vag com? found this guide here,http://wiki.the-corrado.net/vr6_ecu_reset_procedure.html i just want to know whats likely to happen if i dont get it hooked up to vag com? im sure theres loads of vr6 owners that have replaced there battery and not even knew about it.cheers...
  22. sorted my hesitation out, replaced rotor arm and also noticed my negative battery clamp was loose on the terminal even though the bolt was tight, hope yours is that simple..
  23. have a butchers through the temp readings in here m8, http://www.the-corrado.net/showthread.php?38925-The-definitive-VR6-cooling-guide
  24. hi, you get this sorted in the end? i have exact same problem! abit hesitant on start up, idles fine, but realy hesitant when light on the foot at around 1200-1700 rpm, new leads n plugs, going to replace rotor arm tomo to see if that helps, theres a dodgey wire thats burnt off on the hall sender that im getting looked at next week, would this cause the problem? cheers
  25. ok cheers for that, think mine does have a 3stage fan as its for a corrado vr6.btw i got that number from the definitive cooling guide,
