    my pump stopped makin its usual sounds when engine stops ages ago now, just bought a new one from gsf, connector on top was different so i used spade connectors to connect to top of pump, question is still cannont hear anything when engine is stopped so dont know now if its workin proper or if its just new and silent, or does engine have to be so hot til it kicks in etc , any ideas? Cheers

    i looked on vag cat for the part typed number into google found nothing oem but price on vag cat didnt look to bad so ringin tps at vw direct is probably your best bet, have u lost whole thing the jet and cover ?

    have u tried dealer not always as scary as people think price wise ?

    i managed it and im only an amateur mechanic, just a matter of undoing front and rear mount jack up engine, release tension off drive belt remove pulley replace pump then do all in reverse, thats only very basic but it aint that hard, should be loads of write ups online too , i do most my own work saved a fortune this car is easiest i have ever worked on to be honest !

    you say replace plugs have u replaced or tried another coil pack ? Bolts on to side of engine ?

    my old ones on et 32 looked and drove great so wanting to get back to that, spacers wil sort it , slight tyre stretch is just for cosmetic think it looks great :-)

    currently on 205 s thats what came on the wheel, dont think arches are rolled but i used to have 17s runnin 205 40 et 32 currently on 205 40 et 42 so want to space 10 mm and maybe use stretched tyre 195 40 ? ? ?

    my wheels are et 42 and to be honest they sit to far in for my liking my old wheels were et 32 so plan is to space out 10mm and do the stretch tyres but only if it looks good and drives good still , thanks for the help lads merry xmas

    did pretty much same thing i used some strong wire went through the grommet with the cable for amp attached to it then had a good feel under glove compartment and there it was :-)

    brill will have to source some tyres! No rush tho still runnin my winter wheels while weather is this bad !

    maybe, but mine was on all last winter with no probs still got lovely paint etc :-)

    would not advise still drivin because all the pistons from pump hang down unless u can cover them properly, took my auto electrician a few hours once i removed mine so didnt need to drive it

    i have been using my car cover suprising how much it does ! 5 quid off ebay full cover, keeps things free ie locks doors from sticking washers freezing :-)

    the noise you can hear is the eds side of your abs working trying to stop u from slipping , in regards to problems u have in the dry i had this my abs ecu was playing up making strange things happen when ever it wanted, u most likely need the dry joints in ecu re soldering this should sort things mate but the noise is nothing to worry about ok :-)

    so u reckon just a slight stretch like on the 195 instead of a 205 will be ok then? still looks good though :-)

    brill , must admit they look so much better they would transform my wheels, any evidence with stretched tyres that its dangerous etc or the tyre wears alot faster, cheers for the help

    what do i type in mate do i use a smaller tyre then etc sorry to sound dumb
