  1. Ok after some delays and not having much time, I manged to get a seat base done for a fitment check. Its not complete but just wanted to check it would fit with the leathette not having as much give as the cloth.
  2. Pictures, like i said in the last post . I will be re doing these to tidy them up.
  3. Update seats have been delayed my mum went on holiday (how rude) But she is back now and hope to have the first fittment soon. Door trims been a pain really the glue did not like all the heat off the sun so i had to use a staple gun to sick these for the moment. Back trims a nightmare, i just could not get them to fit right, but after looking at the highline ones i see that they have sew 2 pieces together, that explained a lot but i have put them in for now but i will be re-doing them because they are a bit untidy and i dont like that. But need to get a move on with the seats so these are stay
  4. Good stuff mate keep plugging away and am sure you will get there soon, and am sure it will be well worth it
  5. Yeah because the oil breather as been replaced with an after market one. So i think it would be ok just to leave it off
  6. That plug for the oil breather is for you pcv valve i think they call it i dont think it would give you an error.
  7. No the same engine but my wifes golf gti did the same, just lost all power that turned out to be the coil as pete suggests worth checking.
  8. I have it also mate if you get any probs.
  9. Managed to find some time to do the door trim, after a couple of go's. I found it best to cut some form to the shape and size to fit the trim . Then cut the leatherette to the same shape but with extra all the way around. The extra was used to fold over the form to make the edge's better.
  10. Ok cheers mate. Are they worth the money
  11. I will do but i was just wonded if they needed to be done more than anything
  12. Am just looking into a cam set up for the vr. Am looking at 268's but what i want to know would i have to change the valve springs and the cam followers or will stock be ok with the cams.
  13. I had a noise coming from that side on my last vr only to frind it was the water pump. Not sure if yours will be the same fault, just an idea. try putting a screw driver to parts of the engine with your ear to the handle. This sometimes helps locate which area the nosie is coming from. It may not be the best idea but it may help ??
  14. Not mine but read this upside down as well
  15. Standard size for the vr's am sure is 2 1/4 inch 56mm
  16. Yeah will do mate am going to call her today and sweet talk her, because once the trail phase is over. The rest should be done rather quick. Did a door card last night with just one crease in it so i will be re doing that again but i should have no more probs with the cards now i know how to work the leathette. A good machine will help with the job my mum was suppraised how her machine worked ok with the leathette not as hard to work with as leather.
  17. Cheers for the info, but i was looking at low budget, because am sure lots of poeple want to do the best for there vr but no costing a lot. Yeah i will post pics as i go along. Just unpicked the base of one of my front seats as a trail. Just waiting for my mum to sew them up . Then i will check fitment. Also just removed all door cards so i need to pick up some glue then i can get them covered.
  18. Seat bolsters are also in need of some repair no sure what I can do do with these yet.
  19. Over the next few weeks i will be hoping to re-cover the seats with black outside of the seats and the middle will be cream. Door panels will also be covered in cream.
  20. Ok the time as come for me to re-cover the seats after 14 years of wear, So cash flow is short at the mo so i thought i would do these myself. First phase removing the covers from my seats
  21. A lot go with quantum synta 10w 40 . Note sure about the coolant i would go with more water than coolant now the freeze as gone. Water cools quicker than coolant, but am sure someone could give you some better advise
  22. Fully may burn a lot quicker than semi. I did one a while back put fully in and did a long ish trip when i got back and did a check i had no oil left. It had burnt it all. It may be ok just keep an eye on your oil
