  1. Sounds like your alternator isn't working fella, and your car is running off of the battery. Is the charge light on the dash when you've had it running?
  2. When are women impressed with our car antics? :-) I agree with Chris, buy her something then your purchase doesn't look too bad then!! Do like it though. :-) Bet theres not many '84 golfs driving about!
  3. Hmm, 208.1 mph, thats alot in an old mk3 golf. Bet that was shaking abit!
  4. Yeah i think thats it for pad sizes, 288mm are alot bigger pad. Thats a result anyway, finding you've got 288 instead of 280!
  5. I found out what it was, the old alarm had been disconnected so i had to join 2 wires together to make it work. But thanks anyway!
  6. Could be the slave cylinder, the seals might have gone in it.
  7. If you want to travel to hampshire i'd do it?
  8. I think a solid front mount helps alot, keeps the engine movement down. Imade and fitted 1 to spadams golf a few months ago, he said it made a big difference. And he just used new vr mounts for the rears.
  9. Depends what size exhaust housing your going for. With a t3 a 38mm should be ok, t4 your going to need a 46mm i'd say.
  10. No don't block it, it releaves pressure from the engine, needs to be vented somewhere. Its ment to have the 'wire' in it, i think it stops masses of oil peeing out, and just releases vapours.
  11. Could be the cap on the expansion tank, not letting off excess pressure.
  12. Checked the fuses? Could also be the switch itself?
  13. Bottom right of the throttle body. When i swapped odb1 manifolds+ t/b i had to adjust the idle like this, try it an see what happens.
  14. Yes, pull out the dip stick, and if its blown, the oil will be milky coloured. Sounds like you'll be ok though. The mist was probably from the steam coming from the engine bay exiting under/back of your car.
  15. Have you got a pic of what you used mate? I've got a magnetic angle finder, that i used on Adams car. Worked ok, but but tricky to see 1/2 degrees.

Try with some higher octane fuel
  17. Could just be a hose gone mate, the 1 out of the back left of the head, or 1 of the 2 from the heater matrix. The light is the coolant lever low indicator.
  18. Well if you went from 2 to 1 then you'll need to adjust the screw. OBD2 doesn't have an adjustment screw, and the isv is built into the OBD2 t/b. The isv controls the idle (to keep it smooth and regular) via by-passing the t/bt, but the t/b needs to be set too as when the engine is up to temp, the isv is no longer used-mostly used when the engine is cold (when it requires more air/fuel til warm).
  19. And you got it with a VW lorry in the opposite carridge way? Top pic!:-)
  20. Why don't you adjust the idle screw on the side of the tb, i had to do that when i swapped tb's. Adjust it when its upto temp, and set it to what it was before.
  21. Oh yeah, see what you mean. Do you ever get to 6 th, then try changing up again? As if you need another gear?!
