  1. i was thinking of blocking it, I know it would run lumpy if it was sucking air, but if i blocked the inlet side of it it would run ok but wouldn't have any vacuum on the fuel pressure reg.
  2. ok.. just some weird thing i found on the net... and as usual it's a load of rubbish!
  3. What would happen if it wasn't connected?? Would the fuel pressure be higher under acceleration or under deceleration? Would there be any advantages/disadvantages etc Cheers

it is running coil, but the exhaust is pretty carbon'd up. shall i try new lambda sensor as i've got a spare brand new one at home.
  6. Bit of a long time since this was posted... but I got one too! and it's a very rare photo... my MPG starts with a 3!!

It's a 95 on OBD2 diagnostics but OBD1 engine and trim. So right on the border. Also how much better on fuel will it make it? it was good on fuel but now getting about 15 to the gallon since it's been done.

    Re-map

Hi everyone, haven't been on for a while.. While I've been away, I have had a few things done.. new air filter and 6 branch manifold and new exhaust.. it was running 180bhp before i did anything to it. now with de-cat, wrapped manifold, new exhaust and cone air filter, what power do you think I should expect, and most of all. Will it be more beneficial to have it remapped? I know storm and a few others can do the re-maps, so just want an idea of cost, and estimated BHP increase on a standard car. Cheers
  9. My whole street is like 'Keeping Up the Appearances' Everyone has to be better than everyone else. Some nosey old buggers that watch 24/7 To the extent that I had the police called on me for trying to set up my mountain bike for a downhill race in Wales outside my house. Apparently I was being a nuisance because I was riding round in a circle outside my house setting up gearing and suspension.
  10. So what does it mean if it doesn't get that hot. Mine never goes over 90ish. Even last weekend in baking sun on way to santa pod.
  11. Damn right. I don't get a 50 quid fluctuation between my insurers. I get a good 10000 quid difference to choose from. The people who quoted £12k were meant to be a company specialist in young drivers with modified cars.
  12. Yep.. £1700 for polo.. cant remember about Golf £1900 3rd party f+t now on the VR for a 10month bonus accelerator policy! And you 'older' folk worry about £20 difference between the policy's I got quoted £12,000 for my VR!
  13. Sky news have said that apparently he had been looking very pale and the heart attacks run in the family 'Billy Genes'. Others say it was caused from an STD from 'Dirty Diana' He had such a 'Thriller' of a life, saying sex was child's play to him, hense ending up as a 'smooth criminal'. It's such a shame-onneee. At least now he doesn't wonder 'somebody's watching me.' Do you think he's 'Gone Too Soon'? I'll shut the door on the way out :-p
  14. I had my licence for 1 year 4 months!! 17 - VW Polo Mk4 L 1.0. Was pretty mint condition and never spent a penny on it and kept it standard. 18 (but only been driving 8 months - Golf Mk2 GTI - Paid £150 for a laugh and did it up nice and sold it to a policeman for £1200 is pretty good condition. 18 (with exactly 1 years no claims to the day) My lovely Golf MK3 VR6. Bought it through the trade with 1 owner from new and full VW service history. Next plan is either supercharge or turbo the VR, or get a Skyline R33 single turbo.. then put a bigger turbo on it Depends on insurance I think!
  15. aint got it yet need to know before i buy it.
  16. Can't help but notice (although you've probably sorted it) have you got the 2 bolt to 3 bolt adapter to fit the manifold's 2 bolts to the cat/decat's 3 bolts? I'll hand you over to Anna's thread I'm crap at describing http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?296422
  17. Simple question... Will a BMC CDA off a Mk4 V6 4motion fit straight onto a Mk3 VR6?
  18. You might have to measure the external and internal diameter to double check. Reason being is when I had my power flow one made instead of the scorpion one I had on, they gave me about 3 different size pipes to choose from. I can't remember which ones they were. At worst scenario, and depending where you are in Brum. There's a place by me called K'ford Tyres and they have equipment to flare out pipe and can quite easily get it to fit. (other places who do custom exhausts should have the flaring tools too) Hope this helps
  19. The mass air flow meter detects how much air is going past it. It's like heating a small wire to a constant temperature. Obviously the more and more dense the air is going past it, the more it tries to cool it, meaning more power is needed to keep it at a constant temp. They are very common to play up on the VR's. It might be worth using some electrical contact cleaner first. You can get this from halfords, maplin etc Would recommend trying that before getting a new air flow meter. Spray it carefully inside the air flow meter.. on the metal wire bit. And also the 4 pin plug. Have you got an ai
  20. That will be prenty if there's 30m. I nearly did all of mine with 10. Think you might need a few more than 8 ties though as it's a bit tricky to get it between the pipes. Have to improvise a bit. Also make sure you use gloves and to make it easier soak the heat wrap in water before and while you do it. Makes it easier to use. Also, I personally recommend after fitting. Run the car up to full temp on the drive. Don't do what I did and take it up the road as it smokes loads 1st time it gets hot and was pissing out of my bonnet at the traffic lights in the middle of my village. Bit embarrassing.
  21. How about a train horn I've had a look at they are about $500USD for the compressors and horns.. everything you need. One of my moms friends off the mr2 owners club has fitted then to his car! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGYcnYLK_50&feature=channel live in a rough area?? how about train horn alarm?? (skip to 1:00)
  22. oh thats ok then. Just thought that mine, being on exactly 1.000 with a decat and smelling pretty bad, was knackered. But maybe it's not!
  23. At last!! I've got it sorted!!! Cheers to everyone on here who helped relieved my headache!! And yea that scope is crap. Much prefer the measuring blocks. Can get some good info off there... Including my O2 sensor readings all at 1.000. Does this mean it's knackered. Don't come up with any fault codes. Have one fault code up saying something about memory not working :S and also I found that my immobiliser problem is down to some dodgy wiring.
  24. Ok I'll give it a go. No doubt i'll encounter some more problems and have to ask more questions
  25. I think you're further than me When I go onto the scope. I get the grid show up. With a few things at the bottom that don't do anything. I have no lines or anything. Just don't know how to get it started to do something.
