  1. personally, i don't rate champion spark plugs one bit. They will be the same as the dealers, but don't go to the dealers as you will pay more because they have the VW logo on. The best bet is to go to a tuning parts shop not halfords etc as they can sell you 6, where halfords try and sell you in 2 packs of 4. As for the plugs, it's best to go for the NGK Platinum with part number BKR5EKUP They're not cheap, I got a full set of 6 for £41 from Aldon Automotive not far from by house.
  2. I keep seeing a red vr6, looks like its been lowered a bit and with front splitter maybe.. also got a private plate. I see it driving up the A449 between The old Stewpony (stourbridge and bridgenorth junction) and Kingswinford. Just wondered if it was anyone on here as seen it a few times now and it looks stunning.. They wouldn't notice me though as I'm still driving my Polo till the 12th Feb
  3. to make it a bit simpler i'll use a 4 cylinder as an example.. but its the same kind of thing.. the crank sensor on it's own can only tell when cylinders 1 and 4 are at Top Dead Centre as they are linked at the crank. So it's telling you're ECU that it needs to fire either 1 or 4, then the same when 2 and 3 are at TDC, You're Cam sensor does the same job, but it tells the ECU whether it needs to fire on cylinder 1 or 4. and then whether it fires on 2 or 3 next. As you probably know cylinders 1 and 4 would be linked to balance the engine, but while one is coming onto firing stroke just after c
  4. I had exactly the same problem, I bought these in the last blue set. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Formula-Power-Ignition-Leads-Volkswagen-and-Seat-VR6_W0QQitemZ350145001508QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item350145001508&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1301|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318 I'm running them with some standard NGK Platinum spark plugs designed for the car and the throttle response is miles better, not to mention fuel.
  5. cheers for that.. I've been looking around and I think I'll go for 2 sets of the Pioneer ones.. the TS-A172C's. There's a dealer on eBay doing them for £35 brand new.. shame I don't have paypal and a bit far to collect!
  6. ok cheers, i'll start by doin the 17cm 4 first and then do the tweeters etc at another date.
  7. oh so the dash speakers are the same as rear tweeters?? Cheers
  8. Can anyone tell me what size all the speakers are in the golf as it's too cold outside to take them all out!! I need to know; Front Door Dash Speakers Rear Quarter Speakers (look like door size) Rear Quarter Tweeters I think most of them are blowing so could do with some new ones all round. Cheers
  9. Just thought I'd say that they were a b!tch to do today!! Bit of advice for anyone who needs to do them.. heat the ARB up (after dropping it down away from the uprights both sides) red hot then get some stuff from halfords called "shock and unlock"! Spray it on thick so it's wet. Give it a few mins then get the blow torch out again and heat up full.. and those seemingly seized drop links pop out the a pair of mole grips on the nut bit. Bit of a plug really for halfords but this stuff was great. I didn't think it'd work but I was amazed it was cracking the rust as i sprayed it on. So heating it
  10. That's great! I was a bit unsure about the sills, we did try and measure the sills with my vr6 and his td, and I know the wheel base is the same so didn't see a problem, but a few people said different things and I got a bit confused. Thanks for the pic and part numbers too. I really appreciate the time you've taken to get those
  11. can you get a wide kit for the 5 door vr6? i presume the 5 door vr6 is the same as the 5 door turbo diesel.
  12. Is there any difference between the wheel arch plastic kits and plastic side skirts on a 3 door and 5 door. My brother has a 5 door and wants the plastic arches to cover a small dent in the quarter. We just want to know about the space between the rear door as this isn't a problem on a 3 door. Any idea's welcome and links to 5 door plastic kits etc.
  13. Can anyone tell me the pressure that the coolant cap will release. Mines black on mine, but got blue hoses, and i have a blue standard cap on my polo and was just wondering if I can swap them over?
  14. somebody correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure it's that valve thing at the top left of engine as you look at it. I've just replaced mine as they're prone to splitting. http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?261391 hope this helps
  15. so to cut things short and to make it easier for me I need a drop link with a threaded end, and a ball joint the other end. The one they have given me looks like there's a bolt going through the drop link into the end of ARB or something. Thanks for the speedy reply edit.. think i'm confusing myself here. I've bought these... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=200280785335 are these the right ones, with a bolt that goes through the drop link, or is it another one that the drop link is threaded and screws on (looks like the ARB is threaded) So
  16. On my 95 VR6.. i've got play in the o/s drop link. I've ordered one off ebay but it's come and from looking at it, it isn't the same. The one sent has a too small hole to fit onto the anti-roll bar. It looks like the drop link screws onto the end of the anti-roll bar. Is this right? and if so can somebody pass me a link to the right one. Cheers Joe
  17. Bit of a silly question but you're not touching the glass part of the bulb at all when you replace them are you? The grease on fingers generates heat and overheats the bulb and they blow. You probably already know this though.
  18. Just bought a VR6, only problem is that the central locking only works from the passenger door, not the drivers, but the door will still lock. Is there a sensor behind the door panel or anything that plays up on them such as linkages or selenoids etc?
  19. Hi, Picking up my VR6 Wednesday. I know it's a bit of a weird question but what exactly does the standard exhaust look like? Is it just the simple 2 round pipes? Mines got 2 pretty big upswept exhausts (full scorpion system) The reason I ask is purely for insurance purposes. If they charge lots on top of insurance, I'll probably be looking to sell the scorpion system and put standard one on, or just standard back box if it'll fit the same. I know they want to charge £200 more just for the hella twin headlight conversion so I think the exhaust might push it up lots more. especially being 18!
