  1. you thought he'd have spent the extra money and had a schrick manifold on that! It's an amazing tattoo
  2. My brother's 1991 golf TD is having bit trouble starting and running. I have changed the fuel filter, glow plugs but still wont start. I've blown fuel pipes through but nothing is blocked. So, i took the 4 high pressure metal hoses that go to the head off the pump, and stood out the way and cranked it over. I was expecting to see a jet of fuel to the other side of the engine bay, but it just dribbled out. Would you say that this is the pump that has packed up. Also when you leave the car, there is no fuel in the fuel lines (clear pipe under bonnet) but takes ages to suck it through with lots
  3. Well i paid just under £80 i think for mine brand new from machine mart. There's a couple of tool places that do them as they're sanders too. I recon with some searching you could get one for close to £50 ish. Well worth the money, and if you ever get scratches again, just do the car without having to borrow one or let somebody else do it. http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/cp180-1300w-sander-polisher-230v/path/14-angle-grinders-polishers-accessories That is the one I have. I got the wax and polishing heads from a local paint shop. But there's a good place online for the polis
  4. My 95 OBD1 is a 4 bar. Only get it from VW though. I've had big problems with one somebody was selling as an OE product. It's in engine maintenance and problems somewhere.
  5. Your best bet would be to invest in a rotary polishing mop, you can get them pretty cheap now. And some good quality wax (not t-cut) possibly something like 3M Finesse It or G3 if they're really bad. Some other good waxes out there but those are that I used.. Then finish off with a super resin polish or something. I posted this up a while ago.. http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?281716 This would be the thing to do, not so much about the wool mop, and the sanding, but if you see how that takes extreme scratches out.
  6. After fitting a new fuel pressure regulator on my VR, It ran ok, so i went out for a little drive to take some photo's.. when i got back i could smell petrol, so opened bonnet but couldn't see any. Anyway. I tried to start the engine to see if when it was running there was a spray or pin hole in hose etc and BANG!! (bit of dramatics) There was a loud bang after about half a crank before the engine seized. So, I took the vacuum pipe off the breather pipe, to see a constant jet of fuel coming out on my inlet manifold. When on flat ground and opened butterfly valve by hand, fuel came out my air f
  7. haha, I'd say it is paint, looks shiny. I've always found these tattoo's pretty funny... http://www.guzer.com/pictures/sic_monkey_tat.jpg http://thelawnmower.info/images/tattoo.jpg
  8. how about this.. looks like the standard one, but is it? bit hesitant if they're £90 cheaper than standard from VW http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=280318234188
  9. when i bought my VR they told me it could be up for 4 weeks. Then if i hadn't received it by then to contact them. Think mine came after about 3 weeks
  10. as title says really.. just wondered if there's any aftermarket ones out there that might increase power or anything, or if the standard one it better.. anyone know how much one is from VW for standard??
  11. my mom helps run the mr2 owners club, so we do most meets with them and she organizes a few of them. All MR2's and then a black golf in the middle
  12. that's an idea. I have a quick look now and again on meets, might come along to one if there's one close ish to me..
  13. Ah cheers Ben.. been trying to find that for ages
  14. I like in Kingswinford which is in the middle of Stourbridge and Wolverhampton, Got a misfire on idle, ok when accelerating, but after harsh acceleration if will miss when I put it into 5th. Will vag-com be able to tell me what it is? I have no engine lights on. Dont mind traveling, but don't want to go too far if somethings up
  15. I changed my fuel pressure regulator.. loads of fuel came out of the front as i took it out, so i put the new one in and connected the pipe but now it takes a while to start. what is this to do with? or is there air in the system?
  16. if after 1 min 40 your not laughing.. there's a problem!
  17. cheers lads.. can anyone tell me which relay it is for the fuel pump i can run the system dry to fit this reg. It's hammering down outside and dont want to be on my knees for too long!
  18. After the last dyno pulling 180bhp, It's going on again soon. I want to replace the fuel pressure regulator, fuel filter and new coilpack to get some power back, as well as cure my misfire at tickover. Where can I get the 4 bar pressure regulator from? I can get fuel filter from unipart through work. Has anyone got the part number for the coilpack, so i can get it from ford. Mines all cracked. Also, what other small things will make a difference when it comes to the dyno. And roughly how for a remap and what will the benifit be? (standard engine, de-cat, air filter)
  19. sorry i didn't get back yesterday. My car used to do that when I used a key without a transponder in. If i started the car with foot flat to floor it'd rev to say 4k then cut out. Or as you say will start and go to idle, then cut out almost instantly. I believe it's something to do with the pick-up for the transponder in the ignition barrel. Not sure what to do though to sort it. I always put my ignition on, then give my key a waggle around.. don't seem to get the problem if I do that. Worth a try.
  20. will do.. I might have a ride to local tyre place too. They might have been asked it before, but normal people just buy wheels to fit the car!! But I can't not have these at the price I can have them for..
  21. for once I wish I was in America! Might have to have some made. I'd need a diagram though showing the exact thing that needs to be made, but I'm not that good with stuff like that..
  22. i can't see why they're so expensive over here and so cheap in USA, I mean $32 is about £22 ish?? It's only $128 for all 4, but the shipping that bumps it up
  23. It's H&R that want £164 quid for a pair. They were already drilled however.. I think I will PM xyber and get him to spill the beans
  24. when you say it cuts out.. will it rev for ages until it idles, or will it start and rev for about a second or so then cut out regardless of where you're foot is??
