  1. I've got my new MAF on order from TPS. £82 (exchange) with my premium membership discount. I'll let you know how I get on tomorrow once fitted.
  2. Spoke to Vince earlier whilst I had the car on VAG-COM. He thinks it's the MAF as when I unplug it, the lambda regulation goes from -25% to 0% ~ 2%. He said it shows that the lambda is working OK and my errors are being caused because the lambda is trying to adjust out of it's operating range.
  3. It's a jamex one I think. Chrome strut, red springs and blue anodised adjuster. I'll see how much it costs to send in the morning and let you know.
  4. I've just removed my front coilovers and replaced them with my other set. You can have the passenger one for the price of P+P if you want?!? |Drivers one pissed all the oil out. Can't say fairer than that!!

  6. Mine went to Stealth for the remap too. I'll see about replacing the lambda with the one off my old VR brand new but wrong plug. I'll chop the plug on the one thats fitted now and see how I get on. The maf seems to be running OK. the amount of air it sucks increases with rev's etc. but like the bentley manual says, there is no true way of testing it accurately!!
  7. My mate bought one for £70 and he didn't rate it at all but goin off everyone else's comments on here, the best advice I an give you is to wrap it a heat resistant bandage you can get off ebay. Hotter gases flow easier.
  8. Before boost. I've also notied that on VAG-COM im running @ -25% lambda on idle and ~ -3% on part throttle. Could that be to do with the remap or faulty maf / lambda sensor.
  9. You will need to remove the plastic covers off the inlet manifold to get to the plug.
  10. Been on there and checked them. I've done throttle body alignment, checked all hoses (not vacuum) i'm gonna get my spare set of injectors sent off for ultrasonic cleaning, get a new fuel filter and try another 4 bar fpr. If that doesn't work i'll get fuel pressures chacked n buy another fuel pump. If it still doesn't work, there will be a charged highline VR with new chains n gaskets up for sale!!
  11. Thought I'd bring this thread up rather than creating another thread. I'm having problems with idling and hesitation problems. My car idle's rough sometimes and when I try to accelerate, it bogs down then whacks a load of power. Clear the DTC's and goes like stink. My last VAG-COM report threw up:- Sunday, 22 August 2010, 18:49:15 VAG-COM Version: Release 409.1-S Control Module Part Number: 021 906 256 Component and/or Version: MOTRONIC M3.8.1 HS V02 Software Coding: 00000 Work Shop Code: WSC 01317 5 Faults Found: 00533 - Idle Speed Regulation 14-10 - Ada
  12. The clear plastic 'spider' thing might be missing behind the controls that direct light to the controls. Pull it off and have a look. By spider, you'll understand what I mean if it is there.
  13. If it's unplugged it will show an error on vagcom but if you look in the hole near the chassis leg on the drivers side the carbon canister should be there. I've moved mine to the passenger side to allow room for air filter and charger hoses.
  14. Mine's the same. I've changed the FPR from 3 bar to 4 bar from my older VR and it still does it. I'm also lookin for fuel pressure tester. You can get them on ebay for about £25 but you'll need a bit of hose so you can put the gauge between the end of your fuel line and the fuel rail.
  15. Clean the ring thats on the back of the disc and make sure that it's all straight and spaced the same all the way round. Could also be too far away to read. If you put it on vacom, and goto measure blocks you can check the speed of the wheels acording to the 4 sensors.
  16. 2 guide rails, tensioner bolt, tensioner rail, head gasket, exhaust gaskets, inlet manifold gasket (lower), head bolts, cam cover gasket, oil resistant silicone sealant, fly wheel bolts (there stretch bolts as well as head bolts) stem seals good to change too whilst its off. You sholdn't need any sprokets unless they are worn which is unlikely. Ive got copies of all the part numbers for everything your car needs if it's double chain. Mine is Oct 96 double chain below engine number 217000 and is original engine.
  17. Hi all. Can I fit redtop injetors on my VR without having to get another remap?? It's charged with standard injectors at the min and Vince remapped it but lately I'm getting a few errors on VAG-COM. 00533 - Idle Speed Regulation: Adaptation Limit (Add) Exceeded 00561 - Mixture Adaptation: Adaptation Limit (Add) Exceeded Ross-Tech wiki says it coulb be a number of things but injectors show on both problems. My MAF came out of the hose going into the charger yesterday and cut out so put it back together, cleared the codes and went for a drive but now there doesn't seem like theres as much bo
  18. Are your carpets wet? My heater matrix went twice in a year which aused the tank to empty but the carpets were wet. If your getting steam from the tank it does sound like head gasket has gone and it's expensive to get it fixed properly with genuine parts. I did mine 3 months ago with new chains and guides (there just about fucked) after 100k and saved around £375 with premium membership (£15) best money you'll spend this year.
  19. The rankcase breather HAS to be 19mm or bigger according to Vince @ Stealth. I had mine going into a catch can but the pipe was too small he said. Also, it might be worth checking that your fuel pressure regulator is 4 bar and not 3 bar. Earlier VR's ame with 4 bar. I had to swap my 96 VR's with my older one. If you take the clip out on the fuel rail and prise it out, it says the specs on the side of it.
  20. If, when it's plugged in the pump runs for more than 15 mins when the ignition is turned off. The controller (black box with 2 fuses under header tank) is shot. There are around 10 different types of these around so make sure if yours has gone, you get the same part number or the pins on the bottom are in the same place. ((Experience))
  21. Panel filters are fine beause the airbox was designed with a cold feed into them. If you want to let people know that you drive a VR6, then take your air box out and drill a few big holes with a step drill in the lower part of the box. On the front or drivers side to keep the cooler air in.
  22. Honestly mate, I've set my charger up via premium membership, cheked fitting of walbro via premium membership and saved a fortune on genuine parts via premium membership. It's the truth when you read it's the best £15 you'll ever spende!!!
  23. Do you not think though, in the 'right hands', a F\I VR could do the ring quick if it was set up right?? My VR has only the basic mods for a charged VR inc. exhaust, 4 bar FPR. Has a cheap set of coil overs that are corner balanced and a decent set of toyo's but it's quicker than the renault sports, vxr's, rs's and wrx's. Noth the fastest car in the world but it's great to watch all these cocks in there 'hot hatches' get left for dust by a teenage golf!!!!! I've wanted to come to the ring for the last 2 years but 2011 is defo the year I'll be there!!!
  24. secondary water pump does nothing for the car when it's running. It run's for 15 mins once you turn the car off to circulate the water as it still gets hot on the engine side and cools on the radiator / fans side.
