  1. my crack files only work with 409 and that won't run on 64 bit win 7 ultimate but runs fine on vista ultimate 32 bit (only with run as administrator)
  2. it should show up as 'Run as Administrator' in the menu when you right click it. If not, you can goto properties -> compatability and tick run as administrator there. Try changing the compatability to Windows XP too
  3. Use the 409 version, it's the one I use anyway. If you get it working, I've got some other setup files and a special setup so you can use it as the full version.
  4. Head gasket went on my car last week and I'm just wondering which gasket to go for to replace it with my car having a supercharger bolted to it? Also, which other parts do you all recommend changing whilst the head is off?? Another thing, will my car be OK running with the charger working on a standard chip. Only just bought this VR and my old chip won't fit in the new ECU. I plan on getting the car live mapped in a couple of weeks.
  5. right click on your vag-com shortcut on your desktop and click 'run as administrator' I also edit the copy protection of the vacom folder in c:\program files\vag-com. Right click on the vag-com folder -> properties. Click the security tag then click edit then in the new window click add. Type 'everyone' then click OK. Then in the box that appears click everyone and tick the box full control then click apply. Job done for me
  6. Not sure exactly what the figures are but 0-60 is about 6 on a dry day and I've seen somewhere in the region of 157 top end. Cars's got stage 1 charger, de cat and a milltek. Thats about it really and it was worth every penny for the noise and the grin factor.
  7. Mine's an OBD1 with a Z Engineering ZR2 charger. It is a recirculating valve but wasn't working well with any of the springs I put in it. Too much vacuum was pulling it open so I've took it off for now until I can find another solution.
  8. Yet again I could do with some help and sorry it's a bit long winded... I tried to fit a recirculating dump valve / blow off valve the other day to my car with a low pressure spring in it but everytime I attached the vacuum hose it pulled the diaphram open causing the car to run very lumpy and stall. I tried fitting stiffer springs with the same problem. How can I fit one of these valves when the vacuum seems to be 'sucking' too hard without piercing the hose and causing other problems? Also, how do I fit a boost gauge to my car properly?? I've fitted the boost hose to where the crank case
  9. The VW part number is 251 965 561 b. When I rung around the cheapest I could get was £86 for a copy. The Bosch part number is 0 392 020 024. I paid £75 all in for a brand new genuine Bosch.
  10. Yeah go stage 2 with this one. On the VF website it's $1000 for the upgrade. All it needs is the 'bypass valve', injectors, pulley and remap (And a good strong engine) How it is now, it's quicker than new s3 100+, quicker than old focus rs from standing start and quicker than my mates 2002 wrx impreza but now im used to the power i want a little bit more. Can't buy another car for £1k with more grunt than the VR. It's my pride and joy! The wife hates it cause I spend money on it but it's a proper sleeper. Just want it running perfect.   12. Where does the 'race bypass valve' fit on the VR's? Was looking to upgrade to stage 2 at some point in the near future.

  16. Where should my air flow meter be on a supercharged VR? When I first fitted the charger, I kept it in the original place and the car run lumpy when driving it normal but fine when i put my foot down. I didn't get a chip with the charger so it was running on a remapped chip for a standard VR. I've since got a chip for the supercharger but put the air flow meter between the air filer and the charger (Behind the bumper). The car runs great when driving normal but doesn't feel quite as fast when put my foot down.There's a supercharger for sale on ebay now @ £1200 and in the pic he's got it b

I paid around £3 for a new thermostat housing gasket from TPS (Manchester) (OEM)), £70 for genuine Bosch additional / aux water pump brand new in a box, £6 for blue header tank cap (with built in pressure release valve) (TPS again)) and 99p for valeo radiator off ebay. Now I have no whining prom aux. pump and no leaks but due to the cold weather I've got 'slush puppy' coolant so will be draining, flushing and replacing with comma xstream g40. If anybody needs additional / aux. water pump and can't get it for less than £75, give me a shout and I will order one through my contact and post

  19. Sorry for bringing up old news but the vag-com cable I got is a Hong Kong special and does the same! I can do engine and airbags but cannot for the life of me connect to the ABS without Excessive Comms!! Giving the weatgher at the present minute, I wouldn't mind trying the ABS / EDL but for the last 2 years I've been stuck in the dark with my vag-com and cable although my distant friend's snap-on diagnostics machine could read the faults no problem. Any information would be much appriciated on this subject and I wouldnt mind paying (a small fee) to have it checked out. Thanks to everyone i
  20. Has anybody got a stage 1 chip 'lying' around that I can borrow or buy for a good price? I never got a chip with my kit but my friend said if I can borrow a chip off someone then he will copy it and program a new chip for my ECU. He remapped my car before I got the charger but can't find much info on what needs adjusting now it's charged.
  21. I've just been quoted £550. No mods, garaged, 4k a year in manchester. If your gonna tell just a little lie to insurance, you may aswell go all out!! I do about 15k, parked on the street, supercharged. If they ask, thats how I bought and I know nothing about cars and it lives in my parents garage. Does have a tracker though which adds £20 a year to my insurance which is a little disappointing!!!
  22. Thanks for everyone's input!! Can anyone reccommend somewhere for a live remap in the north west or a decent generic remap for my car with the charger?? It's a OBD1 coilpack but remapscience.co.uk have put a socket in my ecu so I can plug n play chips. The car had a remap a week before the charger. It runs OK when cold but once it warms up it feels a bit like it wants a fight with anythin that comes near it. All jumpy and twitchy? Ben says could be too lean or rich.
  23. Got a couple of belts ordered today from Ben's reccommended place. Quoted £16 a belt but not a definate price. Will be here at 9.30 in the morning so I'm told so will let you's know how I get on. I was looking through their catalogue this morning and I think that if you know how long your belt needs to be, they could supply you with any belt that you needed including the double sided serpentine belt with or without A/C.   24. I'd love to but I need mine first thing. Spent 2 hours fitting it and an hour driving it before it went but will be interested in buyin a few spares. Any reccommendations on a filter to bolt to the charger? The one on it now is full of rubber dust and I think is a cheap one anyway. It's a JR?!
