    lol I get the odd engine fume smell too on occasions, will have to go over all the pipes and connections. Maybe replace the pollen filter would help?

    Interesting thanks, mine has space saver 15" steel, the side carpets I have have a storage box on the right (like yours) but on the left is a hinged door where first aid kit, triangle etc go. I'll grab a pic of mine and post up in a sec. re rear box, yea there should be two hangers on it, that I'll photoshop your pic....

    Can you post up sometime a photo of your boot carpet, mine came with no boot carpet whatsoever, I managed to pick up the side parts but the main mat was proving hard to get. Eventually i picked up a rubber type one from lower spec vento and a nice black carpet one, but the side carpet parts are grey, the base should be grey also right? I even tried VW they said the part is NLA so can't buy one for love nor money, be nice to see the part I'm missing lol, I'm a stickler for originality and genuine parts.

    There is a control unit there of some kind yes, in fact i'll go check and grab a photo... re pics i'll have a search and pm you the link, failing that i'll just copy and paste them in the pm, nice to see another black one, keep us posted

    yea does sound like an earth fault, or fault on the 12v side of the dash illumination cct, is any voltage present at the bulb connectors?

    i guess buying a donor seat and ripping it apart for the bits you need.

    poor mans aircon lol, quite common option on vento's i believe, to the right of the radio the little trim piece with vent in has a temp sensor basically when you set the temp with the dial it syncs with the cabin temp and helps maintain it, or something along those lines

    I haven't had one a vw but had one on a vauxhall calibra v6, it sounded quite meaty but not ott, quality and fit were excellent, so gets my vote.

    Nice mod this, looks great in that pic. I've never seen one before fitted to RHD car. I'd also think about this mod but I am buying a fischer cd holder, maybe in the future

    yes mate looks 100% factory, i have a vento vr6 though maybe they differ from the golf's? edit: i'll get some pics tonight when its dark
