    Hi every one i hope you all ahd a great xmas and that santa was good to you all! I drove my friends mk3 gti today and there is a really bad vibration that gets wors with speed! cant put my finger on the fault ? My first query to her when she told me about it origanally was (well thats the wheels they need to be ballanced8-)) so she did this and still complained so getting impatient i said tell the garage to REballance!!!! so she did and got tracking looked at to boot. i phoned her to say told you so and she told me its still there??? so i said your imagining things it cant be!!     the problem is the cables freeze to their guides!! where the cable runs from the caliper then in to the car!! there is a cover on them but tey perish and the any moisture freezes the cables in their tubes!! U need to get heat on these if u want the hand break to become free! if not wait untill the air temp gets to the +'s

    I have Mk4 R32 front brakes on my vr! they would not fit under 17's i think. The mk 4 used the same 5 x 100 pcd as the mk 3vr but i would not do the mk5 and do not re drill the discs for 112 to 100!

    should be ask a local tyre shop to test fit one and see if it clears! a good tyre shop should help you out especially in this economic climate! I am running 215/35/18 and only get a little kiss of the arches over big humps at speed! not sure this helps but hey ho ho ho!!!

    The car should be able to cope with a very heavy hit from a pothole!! i hit one years ago and bent and cracked the rim but the rest is ok, thats the suspension doing its job really! it may have knocked the tracking out of alignment a little! the only other thing i can think of look under the bonet or in the car to see if the jolt may have disslodged anything!?

    cool that answers the idle valve query! i am running a k&n 57i and have done for 5 years and its been ok in all weathers! if anything worse when it warm as it can drop the bhp due to breathing warm/hot air

    Is anyone on here doing this or am i the only sad git here! lol I am at level 33 on touring and need to build a bigger team if any one here is doing it we can join each others teams. If i am the only sad git doing this then please dont be to harsh! lol i am single and the cold winter evenings are very long lol!! 8-)

    Ive never been locked out with my remote central locking!! but on the odd occasion had to use rear door as the fronts were frozen to the rubber seals! Oh and ive never pissed on my car lol classic!!

    Mate u need to wind the spring tensioners up the strut! mine are about half way up the thread!! Shit man if youve wound them fully down your car must be slammed!! he he pics of it please before u wind it up again!! Oh its not an exact science but i used a steel rule to measure the fronts and rears to make sure they are the same height side to side if you get me!!

    Could be m.a.f (mass air flow meter) which i believe is the bit between the air box and the air in take tube! the thing with wires going in to it. if not and im not sure we have them on the vr but culd be th e idle stabiliser valve. i know that was the problem on my mk2 gt when it went nuts!

    checked it and found no leaks! and mine just has 1 green thing on it?some of the flexi cloth coated rubber hoses are looking weathered but still ok.
