  2. more pics of the syncro bay!
  3. thanx guys its not that mine isn't functioning, i find it almost a blessing mine has lasted 16 years now so i thought to help preserve it i could attempt to clean it if the risk of damage is low
  4. i often see something along the lines of clean your maf....but what is the proper way its obviously a delicate bit of equipment so i don't want to damage it the car is odb1 which uses hot film sensor if that makes any difference thanx in advance
  5. its a crap job! - especially difficult if youve had you interior trimmed and are trying not to F*** it up the bolts bolting in in are hiding behind the shiney metallic heat shield on the firewall in the engine bay
  6. gazbarber is the man - he will know how to sort out your vagcom problems! respect to the guy
  7. sounds thought out, a little hard to visualise but i think i understand what exhaust mani are you using?
  8. do you have any pics of your bay that shows the routing of your screamer pipe?
  9. i think the way to be fitting the atp clone is to mount the turbo "upside down" to the conventinal way so that the turbine side ends up on the left side if im wrong im sure someone will correct me or put up some pics which will make a lot more sense
  10. windows vista business 32 bit operating system
  11. don't suppose i could have a copy of the full version also
  12. yes the polo is very quick indeed,on our "local strip" it kept up with a r34 skyline gt-r v spec nismo edition (which is 550bhp from factory) even though it had trouble launching love that video matty!! in particular how your mate cakes it at the start lol
  13. lol - how many road laws do make any sense?? the lad with the 20v gt3071 has in in a polo actually. Infact im pretty sure its not even a 1.8t anymore, its now a 1.9t and runs around the 500bhp mark. That was the last time i saw him and the car but its always being developed so spec could have easily changed
  14. i don't know how true this is but a local lad with a 1.8t gt3071 build runs a screamer pipe and is exits out the side of his car behind the front wheel - he told me that you can have it as long as it doesnt exit out the left side of the car which would face pedestrians - ive never bothered looking into but it maybe a starting point of research for anyone who is serious about it matty.vrt - do you have any vids or sound files of how it sounds? - wastegate chatter is so much more interesting than dump valves
  15. its big and purple like barney the dinosaur any potential issues running a screamer pipe off the wastegate instead of feedback in back into the down pipe on a vr turbo (with original managment)?
  16. spool the death start rofl! i wasnt to sure about the wastegate because by the time you price up the adaptors to get it to fit to either an spa/atp mani you could have probably purchased the right sized tial in the first place
  17. Redeye also mentioned what size a/r (12cm) - I have been trying to learn about the Holsets for the past few months now and after my research on them i am considering one for my own set up but just cant seem to make my mind up between the two: I want to see full boost between 3500-4000 (4k at the latest) but i still want it to be quite urgent for a good street set up, so the two options look like hx35 with 14cm hot side (which is almost 0.97 a/r) or hx40 with 12cm hot (which is 0.89 a/r From my research i have also learnt that the hx40 is supposed to flow quite similarly to the t04s and after s
  18. and after postage only £470 They do seem to be quite well reputated and from people i have spoken to who have ran them in the past and run them now, i have been told the quality is quite high (well built and also not to difficult to rebuild if needs be) However i did try to contact g-s racing some time ago through email and still have to hear from them, maybe its worth a phone call when i get some time
  19. I totally agree with your logic kKv, it makes sense. Thats the reason why i wont be putting my own money at the ebay turbo ( + i dont speak fluent german so if things dont go quite right i dont think after care would be very ideal for me either) I'm just a bit inquisitive you see... so i thought i would ask... besides whats the worst thing that can happen by asking..maybe getting bullied a little and asked back a few more times why im looking at instead of a garrett gt-cheryl tweedy turbo (l)
  20. Just genuinely interested There are very very few aspects in building my car where i make saving money anywhere near a priority (thats not why we do this) - its always nice to find a good deal and not to pay under the odds, but thats obvious. I am genuinely interested as from experiance and speaking to well reputed tuners it is a fact that not "everything" on ebay is total shits - its just hard sometimes to identify these good items ... e.g quite a few tuners seem to say the ebay intercoolers are usually "upto the the job" on non competative builds so i thought i would ask if anyone had any ex
  21. 3.0 high compression build maybe combine that with throttle bodies and better suited cams then get it all maped and you could be onto a winner i remember a thread over on vortex where a small firm did exactly what you are trying to do, keep the vr n/a but tune it as far as possible have you also considered direct port nos
  22. oh gosh (l) little cheryl!! - she can ride shotgun anyday, (even if she poops her little pants in the vr turbo) anyone had any experience with these: (german ebay gt35/40 replica item) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330414398044&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_2498wt_939 the guys seems to sell a lot of vr6/r32 turbo items and the quality on most of them seem pretty decent to be honest, but it would be nice to know the thoughts of someone with first hand experience as ebay isn't "always" full of crap
