your a legend kevhaywire lol somehow i had this feeling that if someone ever decided to reply to this thread it would probably be either you or c2 them selves thanx for the confirmation on the bits needed and the extra info on the c2 immobiliser defeat will defo help me track all the bits down! your help is much appreciated
-
lol come on dudes, where are the experts at "a friend in need is a friend indeed" and if you rather come to my house and help me with this i can suply beer
-
can anyone suggest where else i post this up? i figured the vr6oc would be the best spot
-

leicester!! lol guess wt im from there too mate meets wise its a bit lame but that coventry one's not bad at all, i go up there every once in a while. If you need a hand with anything let me know if i can help out i will mate
-
you can probaby guess what this is all about - the car need turboing... research has lead me to find obd2 set ups run a lot better once turbo-d so ihave 2 choices: 1 - get a whole obd2 engine loom and ecu and drop that into the car after ive built it up 2 - convert my current 70k 2.8 obd1 coilpack to obd2 (which is avery strong well looked after engine a few things to note about my build: i will most likely be going down the low comp spacer gasket route and not forged lower internals i plan on using a short runner so will not be using/require the standard inlet manifold i also plan on using c2
-
but dont forget its advantages: shorter intercooler piping which will help with throttle response and potentially i very clean decluttered bay

thanx for the response kev i get what you mean about the design flaws of the hgp not all being a bad thing because its not like a vr turbo needs that extra power in that part of the rev range - thats what someone with a hgp turbo set up on their corrado was telling me - he explained to me that the fact theat the voilent power band range kicks ina little later means that it gave the little fwd car an oppertunty to gain some grip - he also felt it was th reason why he wasn't shreddign through gearboxes
-
lol great thanx for the reply i feel like a right muppet now... i had a friend offer me a mk4 r32 engine with: g box transfer box all other heldex 4wd system parts ecu clocks pedal rad and all other wiring/piping from the bay for only £900 with only 40k on it i should have really taken it right
-
can anyone comment on how a mk3 handles with a r32 lump in it? its obviosly heaver, dpes anyone have the spec for how much heavier it is?
-
can anyone explain what is about the hgp manifolds that makes them flow soo poorly and if there is any real evidence of this?

might go states & wanted to know of places to pick up parts for my vrT build
lowvr replied to lowvr's topic in Engine Tuning
.82 is what a lot of people (people who have actually built vrT) seem to recommend so i will definately go down that route i did want to stick to the garretts as theyre quality relaly speaks or its self but like a said i cant afford the gt35r so im lookingat alternatives - but the kind of alternative that would be considered more of a bargain, the kind of item that properly letsme take advantage of buying from the states im not looking for a "big power" setup just something conservative (i dont think any decently built vrT will be slow lol) - just something that is going to be relaibe and able -

thanks for th honest reply i will definately check out what schimmel have to offer -
as said above - i maybe on my way to the statesvery very soon im also building my vrT quite soon too and i thought it may help to bring back a few items my build is going to based arond using a spacer gasket to lower compression using c2 management and a short runner intake - that will come from germany using a front mount intercooler and turbowise im undecided - i dont htink my budget willstretch to a gt35r can anyone recommend any places/companies they have dealt with as i only know of a few, but havent dealt with all of them - basicll who to avoid and weather its even going to be worth brin

thanx for the input maidenvr6 my cars an obd1 coilpack, i think if im going to bother getting a lsd i mightaswel go down the 02m route i think in the long run it will prove more cost efficient
-
kevhaywire thanx for the response ive learnt a great deal from your main thread along ...i dont expect anyone to hand me over the keys to their and i would nto want to drive it either as i would never take the risk of driving someone elses pride and joy that they have dedicated so much time and effort into ...however you can learn a great deal from speaking to someone 1-2-1 communication. whilst building my vr6 (which started well before i even had a licence and well before i could even afford to insure it) i have met many people and made friends with a lot of them who i have helped and gone o

yes ive notced c2 will sell a lot of little bits to hel with the o2m conversion - but theat whoel gearbox area is stretching it a little bit so i rather get the turbo set up in there on a low power set up and then understand a bit more about the type of power/power delivery i am dealing with - and then bang in the o2m (whilst i save up for it) the o2m conversion requires: o2m box c2 4wd-2wd conversion plate c2 gearbox mounts or fabricate both to hold in the box very tight 02m shifter and cable b&m/or similar 02m short shift (personal preference i cant live without) new clutch new flywheel
-
definately agree with the above statement - and yes i have read both ...excellent threads! lots of info and big respect to the people i want more power than i have now but i dont want to build it for RR figures to impress my mates - i just want it to have good street power that gives me a useable rev band so i can have some good fun with with my car even i picked the gt32 as it specs up nicely to the vr engine - i would prefere i roller ball bearing turbo but i think the gt32 proven what its capable of so i think my money is better invested saving for a r32 gearbox conversion i dont want to s
-
lots of responses lol i have considered both options but the turbo seems more fun my car is a daily, but if you see it its already a bit more on the extreme side for a daily i think a turbo would be fun as i enjoy working on the car also, so i think ill enjoy putting the thing together its terms of the drive i think tryin to tame it will be lots of fun too - i like the idea of havin more power than i need! lol i have been out in a vortech-d supercharged mk3 and mk2, but not a rotrex or a turbod vr im still looking for someone to take me for a spin and to help me work out weatehr its going to s
-
even though this is the kind of post that shoudl be in general chat, i figured the people with the turbod cars are more likely to enter this subforum im seriously thinkin about turboing my car, ive almost got my funds together but im gong to have to work my arse off to get the rest of it! ...but i need to knwo is it going to be worth it at the end of the day there only so much you can learn from a forum ... so i was hoping someone out there maybe kind enough to take me for a little spin in their vr6t any takers ...promise im not going to be trying to steal your car or anything silly like that
