  1. i re-installed vag com and then ran it as administrator and it worked fine for me today
  2. anyone using vista with 409.1, tried it on my rado today and it work to start with but then just kept closing itself down evreytime i tried to do anything??
  3. try cleaning the ISV as well, i had the same symtons and cleaned the ISV and it sorted itself out,
  4. I'm here. just picked up a rado vr last week, feels good to hear that engine note again, last one was a golf vr6.

I'm havin the same problem with mine, but mines got to the point where i have smoke all the time and rich oily deposits in the end of the exhaust, Comp test also showed cyl 1,4,6 were low about 8-9bar and the others were 10-11. Anybody know how much a set of rings and bearings are gonna set me back? cheers mart
  8. hi guys After a change of circumstances i've decided to rebuild my mk3 vr instead of using it as a donor for a mk2 conversion, My questions is can anybody give me a rough price for replacing the drivers rear quarter on a 5 door?
  9. Are you on about the small pipe that runs from the back of the head into the intake piping? If so i think u can get then from ford, and its only about £40

  11. hi guys, friend of mine has had someon t bone into her and its bent the rear axle, i need to find out a rough price i should expect to pay for a 2nd hand one, i think its a mk3 1.9 diesel, not sure wether its on drums or discs, i was thinkin it would be about 150quid??

Haven't tried the piece of paper will give that a go tomorrow and see what i get, the plugs are covered in black soot, it doesn't stutter under acceleration, it pulls like normal, the revs will drop all the way and it will cut out if i change gear really slow or if i roll anywhere, i haven't adjusted the dizzy and the only thing i know about the ignition timing was that it was saying it was retarded by 20 degrees at normal idle speed (foot on accelerator to hold it at idle speed), on the Vag com, put i didn't think that it could be retared that much??
  15. Cheers matt, how do you mean by click into place?? I have tightened them up to the correct torque settings but i didn't hear any click from the plug?? Will replace them on pay day and see if thats any different also gonna check the est of the ignition system once i can me hands on a voltmeter, cheers for you help, anyone else got any other ideas?
  16. Hi guys n gals I have a MK3 obd1 golf and have problems with it idling/smoking. It wont idle from cold and when its warm will just about tick over at 200rpm but when you drive anywhere and put the clutch in or roll in neutral it dies. I have cleaned the isv and cleaned the plugs and checked dizzy cap n rotor arm, while not great they dont look too bad at all, Also gettin loads of smoke coming out the exhaust, when engine is revved, slighlt blue smoke smellying of fuel. I had it on the vag com today and it came up with internal memory error, looked through the bently manual fault codes and coul
  17. hi, i have been tryin to set up a netgear wireless asdl router at home and have my pc runnin fine but when i try and use the laptop wirelessly all i get is a message on my Explorer page '403 forbidden' and undeneath 'access denied due to do access control list' anybody know whats wrong or have an idea?? i'm not that great with these things cheers mart

  23. cheers cabrioman for lettin me know about the sealent probably would have been there scratchin my head wonderin why it wouldn't come off after i'd taken all the bolts out, lol Gonna have a go myself due to cost and i love workin on my cars so might as well have a go,
