  1. well finally its back together after a long wait and only being able to do a bit at a time after work, well the list of work is quite long, while the head was off i put some coolant mix into the cylinders to make sure they were holding, and to my horror cylinders 1 and 5 let fluid through while 2, 3, 4 and 6 held, so i eneded completely stripping the engine down Sump gasket, new oil and oil filter, mains and big ends, set of rings, front and rear crank seal, oil cooler seals, clutch kit, full set of chains tensioners and rails, head gasket, headbolt set, valves reground, valve stem seals, tapp
  2. 1 k to do a head gasket, jesus glad i only paid 500 for my complete engine rebuild lol
  3. it does both, sucks when locking and blows when unlocking, if the pump is doing this then is a break in the system pipe work or door actuator

    Front Heated Seats

no just for one, if the relays are clicking and there is no heat still then the elements are dead, the only way to fix is to replace with new ones, they aint cheap either, had to price up for a bloke the other week, plus the seats need stripping right down to remove and fit new element
  5. have a look it the rubber boot between the a piller and the front door, you may find som broken wires inside that may cause this fault, other than that check all the fuse's under the dash on the drivers side, you drop the cover and they are infront of you
  6. if you've gone that far to strip it down i think you'd be very stupid not to replace the chains
  7. yeah it will all work ok if you get the resistor as the control unit will think the airbag is still fitted
  8. if the light is on then the system is disabled, this way it cant take any false signals and set the other airbags off, so if you disconnect the steering wheel and have a passenger side airbag it will not go off in the event of an accident, as for disconnecting the airbag, removing the key is enough as it cuts any power to the airbag ecu, if you want to be double sure remove the battery but no need to wait ten minutes as there is no power at all hope this helps
  9. hi all, got my box out and just thinking while its out might aswell change the oil, what oil do peeps recommend cheers chris
  10. it needs a lock and mechanism rebuild, very common on mk3's so much so our parts department have on old container with all parts juat thrown in, any good vw specalist should be able to do it if your not confident to do it yourself as for the alarm. its a good idea to have one but you still need to access the car with a key if the car battery fails
  11. always makes me laugh when i read that statement, how do you think the fuel is picked up out of the tank, its from the bottom first lol
  12. how well does it start? do you get the normal chuging type noise while its trying to start, or does it just sound like its spinning over with no compression then gets better and better

  15. oh and the fact i went this far the head is now off and stripped ready for a slight skim, the seats recut and valves relapped, new valve stem seals aswell, at least it will save me have to strip it again lol
  16. put the window right to the top then release the button, then push the up direction again and hold until you hear the motor click as it release's and job's done easy as that
