I've been using your site on and off for a good few years now but only recently became a member oh and its great.
At the moment I'm in the process of converting my mk2 and heres a few photos.
The engine is a 2.9 with Vortech V2 charger strapped to it.
Hope to post more pics up as I go along.

A properly skimmed head and decked block. With New bolts and gasket will seal correctly if fitted correctly. No need for any kind of sealant.

I have never had a car that's been this much of a pain before everything I touch something happens or there's an issue caused by previous retard owners.
I'm hoping the wheels will be on at the weekend and dare I say it I will be driving it about, fingers crossed

Adapted the original heat shield to make it fit. Obviousely needs finishing and will be painted in black...

Finally something good! Got my wheels back today!
I bought them thinking I could just fit them but when I went to get the tyres fitted it turned out all 4 were properly buckled, 1 was possibly usable if put on the rear but even that wasn't recommended.
They had been sat in boxes at my house for a few weeks prior so I decided instead of contacting the seller I would just bite the bullet and get them sorted.
After going to 3 wheel places I was losing hope as they all said they wouldn't touch them because they are splined bolt splits and they were so buckled they were scrap so I should just not bother wasting my time with them.
I ended up at Northampton Welding as the other wheel places said he can fix any wheel so was worth a try, he was sound, was fully up for taking them on and he was very reasonably priced so I thought fuck it lets do this lol
I got him to straighten them and tidy them up, split them and get them re painted then rebuild them with new bolts and nuts and stretch the tyres on.
I went for gloss black dishes with matt black centers and gold bolts, I went and picked them up after work today and I'm really pleased with them I can't wait to get them on the car!

Yeah unless you are upping the power considerably then the discs should be fine. Vw seemed to think so anyway. Gsf sell decent brembos at reasonable money.

Certainly is good stuff, wish I'd bought this when I first did the gearbox oil.
 
Leather door cards fitted
 
Cracked on getting the new door cards fitted this morning. Wasn't a bad task as I'd had a couple of them off before to replace a window regulator and check some wiring. Broke a couple of the plastic fittings but that's to be expected on 15+ year old components. Biggest ball ache was properly fixing the spade connectors on one of the front aftermarket speakers.
 
Before I started fitting them, I noticed a lot of grime and the driver side door card sounded like a money tin. Unscrews the door pocket and look what fell out;

This was all cleaned up with some G101 all purpose cleaner, hot water, detailing brush and some microfiber clothes. Once all the door cards were fitted I went over the leather with Autoglym leather cleaner and conditioning cream. Looked, smelt and felt a whole lot better!
 

 
Inside of the VR is getting to be a nice place now, got the cloth Recaro's, black A/B/C pillars, Highline gear knob and handbrake surround and the Fischer CD holder, and of course some leather on the door cards . Like the little details on them such as the reflector on the door pocket, and the soft material covering the pocket as well, as the plastic on my old ones always used to look scuffed.

Big update time!
Finished off soundproofing the boot. Still to tidy up the wiring a little. I went for silent coat sound proofing.

I also purchased two new gearboxes. I now have 4 lol
The first one is a drp code off the 2.8 v6 4 motion, it has the um mount and blanking plate etc already

The next is an erf code from a 4cylinder diesel. The gearing from this will be going into the drp as it's much longer gears and a very high top speed.

Mk4 driveshafts to go with new gearboxes, drivers side has been shortened by 45mm to fit mk3/mk2

Clutch and flywheel next to go with the o2m box
Helix 5 paddle clutch and single mass flywheel. Should be capable of the power I want to put through it.

As you can see by this picture, they were a state when I got them.

A bit of autofinesse product and a wheel brush and they came out much better.


They came out much better. They will be getting stripped and then sent off for polishing.

I've also got some 3" lips with them but unsure if I'm going to use them yet due to the large brakes. Will have too test fit and see.

And testing the calipers will go. With some rough measuring I've got the rough size of the disc I want to fit behind it. This picture is just some old 288's I had lying around.
