    Cheers for your responses guys. I was quoted £58 plus VAT for the basic diagnostics today, so i'm gonna have a little think and see where to go from here. Thanks for your offer Jim. Only thing is, as i can't get it started, i can't get up to you. Ben says he might be ordering it though, so may wait and see if i can arrange something with him, if / when he does get it.

    Mine is called 'Gav'. Not my choice, mind. My mates named him that after spotting it on the number plate (and no it aint a private plate either!).

    As i don't wanna highjack someone elses thread..... my car used to start 1st time every time, but is now not starting at all :-( It turns over, but just doesn't seem to want to catch at all. I initially thought it may be the coilpack, but just had my mate (ex-mechanic) check it over and he says i've definately got a spark and def not a fueling issue. He also checked all wiring etc and said that all looks to be in good nick. He thinks it may be the crankshaft position sensor. Is anyone able to comment on this and whether or not this sounds right? I'm gonna try get it on VAGCOM anyway, b

    I tend to adopt a similar 'weirdo' stance, like Craig......i make it obvious that i'm checking the car out and if they react as though they are appreciating mine too then i'll give 'em a nod or thumbs up. I have it a couple of times though, where i do this and the other driver has just looked blankly at me and not even responded! That was with stock cars though, so they were probably not proper enthusiasts.

    Anyone seen one on the road yet? I had one fly by me last weekend (I wasn't in the VR) on some twisty B roads. The guy was driving like a right pr*ck and normally i woulda been p*ssed off, but instead i was just enjoying the entertainment of watching such a sweet looking motor :-p

    You can still get a sound VR for that money mate. In todays financial climate, there are people desperate to get whatever money they can, so will undoubtedly sell for less than what the car is worth. Just make sure you check the car out throroughly.
