  1. ye as mk3anni says its cold out there mine seems to be smelling abit the last couple of days.
  2. is the water coming out of the expansion bottle`s little over flow on the side of the bottle? if so when my headgasket went this it what happen to me the car didnt over heat the temp gauge was normal there was a bit of excess white smoke (steam) from the exhaust due to the headgasket so all i had was the smoke and the water coming out of the bottle sound similar to mine when it went.

  7. oh ye and i got my new tensioner unit for 56pounds form gsf it was 75 from vw but they didnt have 1 in stock and as you can see i nedded it asap.

  10. drive home down a pitch black lane i hear a loud noise then i lose power steering. great i thought my serpentine belt has snaped so managed to cut what was left of the belt of drove home. then i had to drive it to work to fix it on the way to work the battery started to die (it was raining) lost my wipers then the car started to over heat so pulled over to let it cool down went to start it the battery was dead so call one of the lads from work they came down with a battery.got to work in the end orderd a belt then when i was striping the tensioner doen ready to put the belt on the pully was we

It is common for the bearing in the pulley to dry out, causing the bearing to become very noisy when the engine is running and eventually, to fail.     i would say 70mph plus the vr comes alive.
