The H86 you mention is the speed rating. You should ideally have a higher letter ...which will mean the tyre is more effective at higher speeds. Not sure what mine is.. I think it is V something. I'll have to check the number. Your manual should tell you what speed rating you should have.

If the cold air feed is long enough I should be able to feed it down to the centre of my front bumper just behind the front grill, without removing the carbon cannistor... I've checked and there's a big gap to a allow a piece of ducting hose through. I don't have air con or anything either. Next question - how could I attach it to behind the front bumper grill (it's just below the radiator)?

If the stone looks as though it is part of the road then it would be the council's liability as it's not properly maintained. If it's from someone else I doubt you'll get anywhere. A couple of months back I was driving back from work ... it was getting dark but still light... steaming down the dual carriageway (at about 70ish) I come over a hill and I saw in front of me in my lane on the road what looked like a very large plastic sheet so I start indicating to go into the inside lane amongst the busy traffic ...(this all happened within a couple of seconds by the way) .. just as I was moving

Thanks. What diameter (mm) does it have to be to connect to the front of the BMC, and how does it attach... jubilee clip? I'm getting my BMC beginning of March at Stealth so haven't seen what diam the cold air feed hole. From what I've heard the standard BMC cold air feed cannot reach down to the bottom of the engine bay to sit behind the centre area of the grill in the front bumper... not unless the carbon canistor is removed. I need something that will reach down far enough down towards behind the front bumper grill in the centre. Halfords one is too short. I've tried various DIY and a

Hi I can notice a faint consistent hum/whistling noise in the background when my engine is running. It doesn't bother me and is hardly noticable but is there. I may be wrong but the sound seems to come from the passenger side (but that was from listening from inside the car so may be wrong on this). I suspect it is a belt or similar. When I rev the engine at a standstill the faint noise also increases, so is linked to the engine in someway or a belt. I've just had my chains done and clutch. I also have a stainless 6 branch exhaust manifold, which has a different sound when the exhaust gas

Cheers Baz. Thanks for the offer. Looks good. However just spoke to Vince and he is fitting one to my car for 160 all in when I visit him soon as I'm having other stuff done at the same time ...so he's fitting it for free. Thanks anyway. Cheers ps. However if you or anyone else knows where I could pick up some really long hose/ duct piping (cold air feed) to fit to the end of the BMC so it can reach to just behind the front bumper grill please let me know (as I believe the standard duct piping that comes with the BMC kit is pretty pathetic and can't reach down to the bottom of the engine

Hi I have a Golf VR6 (1997 ODB2) and want to buy a BMC CDA induction kit for it. I believe the retail price is £160. Are there any cheaper places to buy it, or can anyone get hold of one for a cheaper price and ideally within 2 weeks? Thanks for any help. I live in West Sussex by the way. Cheers Matt

Hi I've just had the 2 new uprated Vibratechnic engine mounts (gearbox and front mounts) fitted to my Golf VR6. I only picked my car up yesterday. I may look into fitting the rear one at some point in the future. Anyway.. I have a question - I find my car tends to judder a tiny bit when I am stationary or on the 'biting point' when in traffic or when I reverse. Tends to happen all the time whether the car is cold or at operating temp. Is this due to the new engine mounts and is this normal when they have been recently fitted? I understand there will be some new vibration present for a cou

The GMAX suspension kit includes uprated shocks and springs that lower the car 35mm - it doesn't lower the car any more than this. I've had a look and there are no suspension kits out there that will lower the car more than this... why is this? There is a Koni Sports kit for a VR6 (£295+vat on Venom which I was interested in) but that only lowers the car 25-30mm which isn't much lower than standard. Seems as though coilovers are required if you want the car to be lowered more than 35mm. Does anyone else here have pics of their Golf with a GMAX suspension kit or any other kit where the ca

Engine Rebuild, - Spacer Gasket.
matth76 replied to Veedubbed's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
Stealth have apparently tried out a new metal head gasket spacer which is supposed to be v. good - contact them to find out more. -
Thanks for your help. Are there any diagrams online anywhere to show where abouts the clips are that attach the splitter to the bottom of the front bumper? I'm assuming all the clips will be behind the front bumper? How many clips are there? In my experience I have always broken plastic when I try and use a bit of 'force' to detach something! Does the original splitter also come away in two pieces?

Jay, my GF's computer does exactly the same thing when I visit this site since the new design was implemented. I've cleaned out all the temp files and cookies. Still the same thing. However I believe one of the Admin team mentioned it's something to do with IE5 (Internet Explorer 5) and not being compatible with it. My GF's comp has IE5. I have IE6 at home and it works fine. My GF's comp is getting a bit dated now too! To find out if you have IE5 simply go to "Help" in the top menu and then select "About". This will tell you what version of Internet Explorer you have. If you do a searc

For decent coilovers I was assuming I'd be paying close to £400 or more. For example I think FK Konigsports are £450 (these seem to have a few good reviews but still hard to find people with them). I've only seen one or two people mention FK Highsports but not enough to tell whether they last the distance or not... I asked Stealth and they didn't have much experience with the Highsports. Not sure how long coilovers last compared to spring/shock kits and compared to standard suspension... anyone? I was told that the GMAX kits last at least 3 years. I'm VERY surprised the arches were rubbi

Hi I have a late model (1997) mark 3 Golf VR6 and therefore only have the small front splitter/spoiler (which is pretty feeble and even on the basic model golf). Please can anyone tell me where I can get a deep front splitter/spoiler that was on the earlier Golf VR6's and GTI's? (It is the same front splitter that is on VR6Pete's car in his signature.) If anyone else has one fitted please can I see some photos of what it looks like at different angles? How much are they (I believe they come in two parts)? I'm looking for a genuine VW part. Is the parts dept. in VW the best place to purchas

I'm only having the front and gearbox one replaced. I was told the rear one doesn't take too much load and isn't critical to replace - plus it's next to the steering rack in the golf which (if replaced) can cause vibrations through the steering wheel.

Thanks for your reply. Just read your post on the other forum thanks. Is it possible for a rechip / remap to therefore manipulate the torque levels at different revs - in other words could Stealth increase the low down torque with the remap? That's what I'd ideally want compared to top end power. Thanks for your help. How much are Stealth's rechips? Are they the same price as the old Dasteks, and are they a chip of somekind or replacement ecu?
