  1. as sanky says the only reason for replacing the bearing is you cant usually get the old ones out without damage, good piece of mind to have new bearings anyway! they can fail as some have found out!!!
  2. my car has heated jets, i think they just come on with the ignition? cant say i have actually noticed they work or not as my car is garaged when not being used! you need one of those washer bottle heaters that someones selling on ebay mate! looks quite a neat idea really.
  3. he he yeah thats a point, it wasnt silicon brake fluid was it? (higher boiling point used on rally cars) that would give you and amazing water repelant shine! and no damage!
  4. i think its common thing on most cats, i remember when i worked for VW and ordered new cats for workshop etc i always forgot to get the washer and bolt!!
  5. top gear is on replay if you have telewest cable!!! i can watch it over and over! and on that bombshell wheres the controls?
  6. lol, i had exactly the same problem mate, the bolt disintergrates due to the heat/wet/cold as its only a steel bolt, i just had a mate weld mine over in june and its been fine! i cant really see its anything than an inspection port or something? you can get the bolt from vw its listed in an obscure place if i recall, welding it up has been fine though!!
  7. thanks simon, i have injured myself so many times playing rugby now! by the time i am 50 i will be in pieces! still its a good game!! but i think this will be my last injury as i am retiring! shame i got injured as i was hoping to get selected for the British police team this season! ( still i have played for 24 years! so its about time i took a back seat! i know my mulberry highlines not in the same league as yours 8) but i couldnt let you have all the limelight
  8. oh and i thought that circle gave the distance to the bolt holes, hence why bmw wheels etc dont fit, silly me
  9. mmm why not just say "distance between the bolt holes" ie Audi is 112mm etc etc wheel jargon is hard enough to understand!! even for a doughnut
  10. as above but 100 mm refers to the distance between the bolt holes not the diameter of the hole , if you really want the schmidts have a look here www.tunershop.co.uk they are a bit cheaper than uk and 100% reliable when it comes to actually getting hold of them and free delivery from germany too!
  11. cheers nick! i take it your conversion was followed through and you now have the finished article?? your cars looks good in the rolling road shots that i saw
  12. dont forget if you change your springs again you need to get full camber & track done all over again! if it was me personally i would leave it as it is and drive carefully and save up
  13. a pro body shop always cut and add metal to arches if flaring is required then respray, just having arches rolled as stated is a decent enough job but as it involves flatening and stretching the arch lips the paint nearly always cracks or flakes off after a few weeks!! if you only have 7.5 j i would get the wheels and suspension fitted (4 wheel alignment essential after!!) and see what you think before spendig 3-400 quid on arch mods and paint you dont need, 7.5 isnt that wide so you can go low with that on a 205 40 tyre
  14. sometimes the stick on type wheel weights can come off, enough to make the symptoms you describe, just get your front wheels checked & re balanced if needed
  15. sounds like you gonna have some serious system when its done! roll cage!! you cant roll a 4wd car!!! 8-| i know what you mean about the syncro boot mate, if i put anything more than a packet of crisps in the rallye the parcel shelf wouldnt sit flat!! i dont have any real plans for mine but i would like some polished bits in my engine bay! nothing ott but just nice, and i must get my air con rad sorted before the summer!
  16. if its something you want just put a big bid on to start with! no such thing as a bargain on ebay, just things that are hard to find for sale elsewhere! most are only hard to find elsewhere because everybody uses ebay now though!!!
  17. if you really want the A`s the place i got mine from do hundreds of hub adapters, so you could fit virtually anything! besides i am sure the borbet A is listed in 5x 100 @ www.tunershop.co.uk
  18. nice one john, they do look very nice fitted to the car, i do like the look of my hella twin smokes, mine are pretty bright as i have upgraded them a bit!! I would like a set of the celis ones when they come down a bit in price!! where did you get yours from mate? ps you can still get those headlamp protectors to fit a mk3 from a main dealers i think? simple clip fit to save getting any damage to your lamps on motorway or in the bad weather, i hate broken lamps & it happens to me every year!!!
  19. , no it was under a nova in a cover!!, i have just been really busy lately! but have got a bit of free time now
  20. my vr has got a slight stutter every now and then aswell, it happens when you lift off then re accelerate too, just a momentary loss of power and then its fine, again only happens when its hot, it only does it rarely, i just thought it was an air mass sensor blip or me being to brutal on the throttle waiting for the ecu to catch up!! but it does sound like the same issue you have just not as bad, yet!
  21. yeah i think the cold weather has shown a slight weakness in my battery although it hold charge when being used regularly, i dont use it for over a week sometimes!, i will probably get another new genuine vw one to replace it just to be safe, i might get a bigger amp one, does any one know if a 65 amp fits in the battery tray ok? tray looks big enough but not sure, and can you get a bigger jacket for it?
  22. just look at it this way.... vauxhall produced this....and VW produced this........
