    I just upgraded all my door speakers to Alpine "E" sxe 1725 s series speakers, they fit straight in the existing door pods and behind the grilles properly, i got them from here http://search.ebay.co.uk/alpine-speakers_W0QQfromZR40QQfrtsZ50QQfsooZ1QQfsopZ1 for about £18 a set, its the 16.5 cm ones you need, all you have to do is cut the old vw connectors and crimp some new ones on, mine sounds 50 times better, like you, i didnt want a disco! just a better sound.

    later bumpers are all one piece, i also thought the early ones were too?? never looked real closely mind!

    sounds like theres no end of options for sat nav!!& john cleese and tiff needel! i suppose its better than that yank voice they all usually have! i may be interested in yours jaysvr6 what one have you got?

    i have been looking at the road angel, navman, the magellan (like the military use) and the tom tom ones, all about £250-£300 they all seem to have the same features really, obviously the dearer they are the more maps you seem to get on them, i am after a basic "i cant find my way anywhere by normal map" replacement! just thinking of the most basic really, if you subscribe to the tom tom versions (about £4 a month) it gives you speed camera locations etc, i think you can get discs that give you other gizmos aswell, instead of beep warnings you get a cuckoo noise for mobile speed cameras a

    stockers said... the dealer price for the colour and lacquer kit is the same price as halfords so i would go to the dealer, and as you said its mixed at the factory rather than by a half wit Thats generous! my local halfrauds hasnt got any staff nearly as clever as that! i nearly had to supply blood as proof of id... aswell as my entire history of bank accounts gas bills and passports and log book just to get some number plates made! even then the mong started to make the wrong reg up! %-6

    Got my charging system checked out this morning, charge rate is fine at idle and when under load, battery may be? a bit low on out put apparantly? just took it for a good hours blatting around the motorways! to give it a bit of charge! that sound is a bit addictive pulls like a jet!! see if it holds its charge over the next week...or its a new battery for me! could be worse it could have been the alternator!! i amy just have to take it for an hours blat every day 8) just to keep it charged up of course i obeyed every speed limit by the way :| ..... yeah right

    the Chavalier is a mode of transport for people on the dole, usually smelling of wee and wearing a lot of "adore" tracksuits and trainers, they also tend to have 17 children, all with different surnames, I do agree that there are better cars than a vw, but none have been mentioned so far! and no amount of filler in the arches will make a cavalier go up the list!

    Being a cut above the rest i would have to disagree, Chavaliers are awfull, they are "housing estate must haves" where people strip one out and leave it on their lawn till it finally rusts away, or someone ocupies it %-6

    arrrghh its all starting to make sense now..... VW is a great marque, with a huge following, i like lots of other cars too... porsches, jags, astons and some run of the mill stuff Lancias, alfas etc.... but just not chavaliers, i dont think vauxhall build a good car, is that wrong?

    cheers mate, i am going to get it checked tommorow and didnt want them to work me over! its a free check but you know garages! i had the problem with the boot light staying on for about 3 months! as i dont use it much i didnt notice!! thought it was lack of use!! think it may have stuffed the battery? it was ok before though, i will see tommorow, cheers for the info.

    yeah gotta agree, the R32 ones do look nice on those yank motors, maybe the arch work is the main dilems though? you only just been to the body shop nick!!!

    think changing the slam panel is easy enough mate, only the bonnet catch bit thats fidly to hook up, you dont need to change the fans components i dont think!

    As title, i think my battery is dying! can anyone tell me what the charge rate should be off the alternator? i am not to good with elctrical stuff!
