    The changes with this kit involve replacing the stock shift lever with a stock-looking item with a different throw (the oem boot remains so everything looks the same inside the car) and changing a pivot point at the end of the shift cable, so it does mean work in the engine bay, but not under the car - there is nothing gearshift related near the exhaust/under the car......have look down by your battery, near the shift weight if you have one - the thing that looks like a hammer - its the two cables there.     I have now installed the side to side reduction part and the overall change from before - even with new motor mounts and tranny mount - to the final outcome is just night and day. I can't even begin to think what it would be like going back to old motor mounts, a dud tranny mount and the old shifter mechanisms. The gearchange is now solid, sure and mechanical, like a rifle bolt. It took me about 1.5 hours to fit, because I was being extremely careful with the dremel stage - don't do it without one - so as not to scratch or remove any excess metal that didnt need to be dremel-led. So far I have only installed the modified gear stick inside the car, which looks after the fore and aft throw shortening.     The most Barry thing about it is that it is registered as a 1.4....so he says it will cost 20 quid to change this from dvla, but the sale price will be substantially cheaper without an MOT ? Sounds like that 20 quid isnt quite right!

    Had a chat with the Sydney H&R dude today and it turns out front and rear might not be such a bad idea. I'm up for the 25 mm fron and 28mm rear (adjustable) set. Bloody expensive but apparently complemets the H&R coilies a treat. Do they have whiteline in the UK? Apparently they are shee-ite on the Golf...but then he is selling H&R!

    Don't piss about with washers and cut down bolts. I handed over $50 US to ECS tuning www.ecstuning.com - bought along with some other parts and it makes life much easier - and they are the right hardness bolts.

    Good opportunity for a rebuild with shorter final drive, tdi 5th gear and a peloquin/quaife lsd. Sounds shafted.

    Our old VR6, looking a bit sad compared to the current one. It was well used and much loved!

    I'd be putting 5 different keyed wheel nut locks on those wheels - no, make that 20 different wheel nut locks. Anything less would be putting trust in theiving little chavs and that's no good at all.

    Record the time of the incident and ask for his phone records to be produced and nail the fecker. If there is one thing I can't stand its people using mobiles whilst driving. How cheap does a crappy halfords hands-free kit have to be for them to use one?
