I did vag com and its got a fault

    00515 short to ground

    checked the wiring all ok

so there must be a fault with the sensor £56for a bosch one ouch

see what happens when it arrives next week

    I will let you know

  2. fog light connectors will be in the main headlight loom
the round connector tucked away to the left of the bonnet catch (standing facing the engine)
the one near the engine could be the after run coolant pump can you here the pump working when you switch off the ignition
if not I noticed a vr6 with a sensor in the hose that leads to the heater matrix from the back of the cylinder head
I have never seen this layout before
    here's a pic

it may be some thing to do with the electric aircon

    hope this helps

  3. was down looking at my cams today and noticed the cam trigger is different to all the other ones I

    have see before

when I checked the part number  and looked on line the trigger I have is described as a phase sender.

    Trigger for camshaft position sensor
For vehicles with engine number from 260 001 only

    Used for variable valve timing.

my engine number is higher than 260 001 so I should have this part fitted

can anyone shed any light on why there are so many trigger points on the part

I can not see the vr6 having variable valve timing without some way of physically rotating the cam in question

  4. I have changed a few power steering pumps on vrs in my time

    this problem takes the biscuit

    the story goes

been having a problem with the car pulling left all the time

so I decided to change the power steering rack and pump

    engine out

    new rack in

filled the reservoir with vw fluid and primed the new pump

started the engine all fine power steering working great

switched off and restarted no PS

now when I rev the engine to about 3500 rpm the PS works a little

but at idle it does not work

I have fitted 2 brand new pumps both have the same problem

change the fluid replaced the pressure pipe

blown out all the hoses and cleaned them

I then took the pump off removed and inspected the relief valve

took the spring out  refitted the relief valve and spring

refitted the pump hey presto all working again at tick over

restarted the car same again no PS at tick over

    WTF

    any thoughts appreciated

come to the conclusion that the pumps knackered as it is squealing like a goodun now

  5. every time I unlock the car using the key fob the windows go down half way

this is annoying as before i repaired 3 of the window regulators only the drivers window came down

i have contacted hawk alarms and they have said

    quote from email

It’s design fault of the car. This design fault only effected VW Golf 1992.

can this be true as i think they had no alarm or immobiliser as standard, OBD1

    also is there a fix?

This is how i understand whats going on.

The alarm is telling the car to unlock, the car must think the key is being held in the unlock position so opens the windows as well as the doors.

All this is controlled by the door microswitch ( drivers and passengers) and the signal goes to the window regulators,

it the inbetween bit i cant fathom. I have a feeling ts all linked to the vacuum pump in the boot.

    any help appreciated.
