2pints is right i bought one years ago and it didnt lower the intake temps just delayed them for a while longer

i found out a while back that audspeed gets his kits from of all places brasil
it was the first kit i fitted to my vr and it was pretty good easy to install and gave about 260 without an intercooler
this kit now comes with an intercooler
the main problem i did have was that the early turbo mainfold flange had a tendancy to warp a little
due to the fact that the stainless flange was too thin
i see now that they have changed the stainless for a cast manifold
the down pipe needed a flexi welding on as well and a 3 bolt flange to connect with the cat
customer service was great , i spoke to a guy in english as my portuguese was a little rusty.
my waste gate diaphram deleloped a hole so he replaced the whole wastegate free of charge and had it delivered to my adress free as well
i admit its not the best kit but hey it works fine
i managed to set it up to run 260 with no intercooler . the kit now comes with an intercooler
so i think its worth a look

turbocharging your car is alot of work and money
ive been through 4 engines which i put down to ignorance and a lead foot and companies who cant rebuild a vr6 engine properlyand bad luck.
EIP sent me a 2.8 engine and told me it was a 3ltr, its now been bored to 2.9
i had my last engine and head rebuilt for an unbelievable £740 + vat they are engine remanufacture specialists and have guarenteed their work for 12 months.
so it shows what the big garages are making on rebuilds
i supplied the forged pistons (ebay special) chains and bottom end gasket set
new valves for the head( ebay special)
all i got back was crank/block/pistons and rods fitted the rest you can do your self.
so if you plan and scrimp its possible
-
its allways good to have an af meter and egt sensor fitted so you can keep an eye on things
your car sounded spot on when i met you in leeds a while back. what made you change to aftermarket?
the last engine that went bang was down to me being impatient and running too much boost with out an intercooler.
i coulnt resist putting my foot down.
this time its going to go sweet
do you have an uprated in line pump fitted? i am after buying an intank walbro pump kit any ideas

what more can i ask for
top man
thanks for the reply
i will look in to it ,i have about 2 to 3 weeks then the car will be on the road,
i plan to go charge cooler and have sited the battery in the boot to allow for more room in the engine bay
emerald or dta thats the question
i will see what wayne has to say
again thanks for the post
all the best

i made 321 at the stealth rolling road day awhile back and 352 when vince remapped it with S2 injectors
no proof though
-
Hi fellas i have been away for a long time
saving up the pennies to get my vrturbo project back on the road (several engines later)
i want to go emerald and dont have the cahoonies to wire it up my self, its too complicated too many questions
i feel the rising rate fpr and remapped stock ecu are not up to the job, even after a stealth remap (350 bhp) the car overfuelled too much.
anyone know some one evperienced who can wire it up in the north yorkshire area
i would appreciated their phone number
thanks

projects looking great
excellent post
looking forward to hearing about the rest of the project
-
you may also need to brace the turbo core to the engine as there is alot of movement which may cause leaks etc,
-
thanks i tracked the multi problem down
the fan controller was shot, and a knackered temp sensor in the rad, the car gets to 95 on tick over then the fan cuts in , the after run coolant pump is now working fine as well.
the bently manual says that if i bridge pin 1 and 3 on the yellow temp sensor connector then the 3rd speed fan and the after run coolant pump should cut in, it doesnt? *-)
-
i can only aspire to build a car like that
-
any thing over 8 psi i would get an intercooler and lower the CR.
and of course get the car remapped.
-
got the after run coolant pump of and found that it rattles.
after stripping it down i discovered 2 components had unsoldered themselves, due to heat
ok i thought i will try my spare on my other vr,
that was the same but with only one component unsoldered
has any one else had this problem?
any ideas where to get one or two cheap
-
i had an short engine rebuilt by andy
to cut a very long story short it arrived with no oil pump drive shaft fitted, thats why i had no oil pressure!!!
he appologised and cursed but i was not impressed,
the engine he did rebuild lasted 6 thousand mailes and i had to strip it down and send it back to him
it lasted another 4 thousand and i have now spun a bearing
so its back to the drawing board.
my experience has been bad with highflow heads, others may have had good experience,
i had to wait for months to get the engine back. eip built one and sent it out to me before the one fron highflow heads was ready,
everything i have said is true and i am not in the game of needlessly slagging people off for no reason
-
after run coolant pump not working
any ideas
i have replaced the pump and checked for voltage at the 2 pin plug still no joy
-
i like the long shots 8-|
1 day i will be a millionaire
-
fair enough 250 is the going price then.
i am going to keep hold of it, its not worth the hassle of changing the plate, it will cost £80 to get another one swopped over
-
looking at his time to get to 150 it seemed pretty lame,
a turbo vr would obliterate that car on the straight.
i kid you not i did a track day and drove a
scooby wrx stripped out, a turbo vr running a bar of boost would leave it gasping, i grant you not around the corners or off the mark unless you had an lsd,
saying that there is allways something faster lurking round the corner.
-
thanks its not that rare
i have emailed Britvic the people who make J2o drinks to see if they would put an offer in
J20 vrg (very good) its a long shot but worth a try
no reply as yet.
going up by train to Carilse on thursday so i hope to driving her back will let you all know how i get on
-
i will go get the car and see whats what.
i hope the engine is ok after having 100bhp of no2 through it, I think he should have mentioned the fact, it had the system installed. fingers crossed
looking at dvlas web site the plate is worth alot more than 250
-
wooooohooo let us know how you get on
i rate the shimmel kit i have the short intake mani its a well made piece of kit,
I also like the chargecooler set up minimum pipe work is best.
would you consider a MAP sensor and stand alone ECU?
-
great day at stealth chuffed for you
what a feeling when things are going great
i am in the pit of dispare after another engine falling apart.
its the way i drive em
-
warm the car up and then retry the compression test
a leak down test will confirm if its rings or valves
some times its worth doing each cylinder twice, as i have had the tester not seal correctly and give a false reading
then at least you will be 100% sure there is a problem
remember to remove the fuel pump fuse whilst testing

where can i get upgraded lights for less than £100?
where can i get block rebored for 82mm pistons?
