  1. I bought the engine for the sake of it being local and only £30! Had loads of bits on it but I was under the impression it had covered approx 100k! Another engine of mine which had covered 60k had deep tracks in the guides so I'm pretty chuffed! There were tip-ex marks on the timing gear so I'll assum the chains were changed. Bingo!!
  2. How long do you think these have been used for? I pulled them out of a spare lump and was a little surprised by their condition.. They actually look worse in the picture, you can't feel the wear marks with your finger or nail...
  3. Hi, Im gathering bits and pieces for the turbo lump I'm building, I was just wondering, rather than leaving the water injection kit to gather dust, is ir worth fitting it,to my N/A lump until swap out time comes.. Is it worth it? Thanks
  4. Will give it a go, hopefully save me buying things in trial and error! Driving me crazy! The only none new things are the lambda, throttle and cam position sensors, blue temp sensor, crank and air intake.. I've got a spare ECU, i'll give that a go too
  5. Nope, I was under the impression that with OBD1 I could do literally nothing with VAG com...Couldn't be the timing could it, im sure it can't be but with my run of luck I wouldn't be surprised!
  6. lol, yeah but the back end is in a garage and boot was open so it sounds super loud!
  7. Hi, On my LAST problem now, has had a new MAF, replacement ISV, coilpack and everything else is new as part of the rebuild but it idles like crappppp.. Possible air leak behind the MAF? Im 99% the engine is timed correctly but is that a possibility.. When the locking tool is in place, the crank pulley does line up.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1W-Ps1my98 Vid Help!
  8. Cheers Does anyone in the UK sell them?
  9. Hi.. A mate fitted a power gasket of some form to his civic and after a hard drive I could literally rest my hand on the intake so they clearly work, obviously it's a bit different on the VR as the intake is above the head but Im sure it'll help.. Where can I get one and can you get one to go between the lower/upper intake aswell as the lower/head? cheers
  10. Yeah, they are the same... I had a whole bunch of them, part number did vary but I have one from a 1.8T on mine
  11. How many KG's do you tink a block and bottom end weigh?
  12. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EiQTfb2HTWw lol
  13. Yep, I'd want one ASAP! Would like to see one fitted too and how much lower this will be as my sump already sits a fag packet from the ground..
  14. Who was it? Had a VR6OC sticker in the back window and little 'ring badge.. Black Mk3 VR6, Vento front, plate was N745 or N754 ###.. Going from Esher Scilly Isles roundabouts - Hook roundabout... That was me in the M3... lol If your on here, car sounded awesomeeeeeeeeeeeee.. I se and heard you had the typical VR shifter missing a gear issue..lol I have a nice chipped and sooty bumper now
  15. Mines doing that basically.. ISV makes no difference plugged or unplugged... Culprit?
  16. IT WORKED!!! No more popping and overfueling! The ONLY problem now is the engine is hunting, just found this vid on youtube, mines doing the same thing, just a little faster.. And it doesn't want to drive when clutch fully engaged... lol
  17. I ended up ordering a new one, my one had been sitting in a damp garage for years so Im sure that has killed it.. The new one turns up tomorrow so I've got my fingers crossed.. It has been suggested that the intermediate shaft could be out but Im 99% sure it is correct and the car has been run for 20 mins and the cams and crank pulley line up perfect.. Im just hoping this popping goes away, hopefully that is just excess fuel being burnt Will report back Many thanks for the help and advice
  18. I haven't got VAG com so I've not been able to try that.. There could be an issue with that too, it's an OBD1 setup in an OBD2 ported car so Im not sure if it will still work.. The temp sensors are all original, the black one is unplugged at the mo but i know this will have no affect on the running of the engine.. Most of my parts did sit in the garage for 3-4 years which I guess took its toll.. Im sure its not the crank sensor as I dont think the car would fire if this was at fault! This fault finding is getting expensive, lol I will probably buy a new MAF for piece of mind though, might try
  19. Help, I'm close to burning this thing! I just replaced the coilpack (AGAIN) and removed my Denso plugs and refitte the original NGKs' but still no luck.. Basically, I start the car, it fires and it runs rough as! The idle is lumpy, it is overfueling and I get an odd popping noise, like an extreme pinking! Even after running the car for 5 mins, the plugs are sooty black which indicated the overfuelling not only to be confirmed by the smell of the exhaust fumes and the popping and flames.. I don't mind the flames.. The popping noise doesn't sound like metal on metal, the engine will run and at
  20. Perfect answer, thanks, going to get some now Cheers
  21. Hi, I'm looking to buy parts for a VRT I'm building, now, realisitically, are ARP bolts worth it? I've never ever heard of OEM bolts failing but it's said it is good to use ARP's so that you can reuse them, thus making it cheaper in the long run.. cheers
  22. Hi, How does this work exactly, does it work on pressure or temp? Mine won't go out, just keep flashing when the ignition/car is on.. Rebuilt engine which now runs fine...
