  1. i must agree, went up north with my mates mk2 gti and my bro in laws mk3 1.8GL. drove them two cars for four days up north and when i came back to my vr, my oh my oh my - it felt like driving on silk roads just gliding through every gear with no hesitation at all.
  2. ok, the car is now booked in over the weekend to get a PROPER (lol) job done - - -thats right .... no arches
  3. believe me when acf said cheapo ones lol, i got em from euro in a state of emergency as it was sat 1pm and dealers were too far for me, paid 60 inc VAT sooo crap and awkward to fit that lead 4 got damaged, went VW to buy a single lead and cost 20 inc vat, wish i bought the whole set instead, 1 red 5 black leads lol
  4. kewl, keep us posted on updates cuz im also lost for ideas, it did sound like the exhaust to me but put it on a ramp and shook it soo much without a single clonk.
  5. i had same prblem, 'jerky drive' turned out to be the leads, which after installing the guy damaged them so had to buy a new number 4 lead today (18.00 quid) ARGHHHHHH
  6. nope happens almost all the time, clonk clonk lonk, driving slow over lil ditches etc ,and when i pull off the lights, shocks are brand new coilovers and mounts for these have been checked already,
  7. hi, any idea how often the engine mount needs changing??? my car is making this clonking noise from the front mid section, had the exhaust checked and it seems stable, the guy checked it for me and saw that the engine seems to be rocking quite a bit, any ideas??? cheers guys
  8. cool, will give it some time then, looks niceeee lowered though, its dropped 60mm at front and 50mm at rear ( i think, never understood these coilovers)
  9. care to explain a bit more?? sounds like a useful mod like taking the cone out from the lid of the airbox. gives the induction roar!! cheers
  10. could be, i just been through too much lol, mite be imagining things... thats y ill ask you lot, see if it is me lol cheers
  11. you know what, i might just settle for that advice, if it looks too wide after the car will look like its got bicycle alloys it already looks wider, keeping the bottom trim of the car black prob will look better then colour coded, ill drop it to them asap then i guess - mite be a a bit xpensive but they rolled the arches they can paint it, if i go elsewhere it becomes too complicatd, i.e if the paint cracks again then they will say we didnt roll the arches thought so its not our fault etc etc
  12. do you think the VR drives faster and picks up better with gradual acceleration?? or do you think it drives faster flooring it?? tell us all your findings, [ Edited ]
  13. your car looks sweet mate, and iv never heard of anyone adding arches to the VR if anyhing they take them off, i guess it will give the car a wider look, problem is there are some cracks on the front arches as well, so it will work out far too expensive, colour coding the side skirts and rear diffuser should be ok, and the plus side is that no filler if i get the arches which means no risk of cracking off, true? i dont even have a drive way to park on just shabby street parking where the car prob gets hit a gazillion times,
  14. ok guys, thanks for all the help, turned out to be a HT lead, i put new ones in but looks like the guy that fited them pushed them into place with a screwdriver and ripped it, oh well bit of insulation tape and voila, its a shame i ruled out the possbilities
  15. i was quoted 300 to have both wings done, and i was quoted 130-150 to do arches side skirts and rear diffuser on standard bumper, i dont know what to do, at the moment i am VERY pi**ed off with my vr, too many problems. binliner: have you rolled your arches? thats the amount i want to lower it too, nerih: yes the arches were rubbing and i wanted to lower it more at the back, front already scrapes coming off bumps lol,
  16. hi, does anyone know if the 3 door gti and 3 door vr arches are the same?? i just had my arches rolled and the paint cracked, cheapest option is to colour code plastic arches and slap them on, also can you get smoothed ones or all they all rough plastic. cheers guys

  19. you mean send it to vw for a diagnostic?? if a normal garage diagnoses it with a diagnostic test - would you advise this?
  20. hi, what are the symptoms of a poor MAF sensor?? my car is jerky in lowish revs in first and second, and occasionally holds back then springs into action all of a sudden?? ?!
  21. did u ever experience a judder/jerk in 1st/2nd gear at lowish revs??? thats the prob i got now
  22. it is 12.00 from euro car parts and 21.00 from main dealer, labour charge was 50 as there is a special screw that needs to be taken off, vw quoted 106.00 for labour - the steering and airbag needs to come off
  23. changed the ignition switch, problem solved, thanks for all the help
