    hi guys, hope all is well........ i wanted to know what the symptoms of a faulty ignition switch are and how easy is it to replace?? my car (1995 mk3 vr6) intermittently fails to start first time and can sometimes take 5/6 attempts before it finally starts...the engines does not catch the revs. i would appreciate your commens and suggestions. cheers

    i have the same problem, put the rear de-mister on and the mirror just stayed misty. might be connected wrong in terms of wiring pins

    geastb: do you have the same problem?? changing the bushes didnt make a difference?

    hmm does sound like it comes from the fron more than the back, better get it seen to.

    as i drive there is this feintish clonking noise coming from either the front or back or both, all it takes is a little uneven surface to trigger the 'clonk' i have new adjustable coilovers put in about a month and a bit ago so dont know if it would have anything to do with this, sounds like shock mounts to me?? would the coilovers have these? or would my standard ones still be in place? cheers

    hey guys, thanks for all the advice, car went on the brink again today, so i pulled up outside my house and got to it, unscrewed the bolts to fold back the carpet and checked the driver side earthig point to the car body, was ok so then checked the passenger side an AHA!!! the screw was loose that attatches to the body, tightened it up, pressed the brake and wopeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! nothing quite like a satisfactory bit of DIY. cheers

    ok guys a really common problem with the vr's is that the front pipe that runs across the engine block gets corroded and the thermostat housing corrodes from the inside, i had this problem a few months ago and changed the whole thermostat housing and seals which did the trick (thank god) so u mite want to check that.

    now and then my car does this weird thing.... each time i press the brake pedal the rear fog light and the indicator lights come on with the brake lights, this is also shown on the dash where the rear fog lamp indicator comes on and the hazard light indicator near the speedo glows as well. as soon as i release the pedal all is back to normal until i press the pedal again. it is a problem that is generally intermittent but always occurs after i have used the brakes to brake very very hard,. can anyone enlighten me on this? cheers

    i need to shorten it cuz i have a TV screen installed in the centre console behind the gear stick. ermmm SIX APPEAL:::: did the mk4 one fit straight on including the gaiter???

    hi, can anyone recommend any short (in length) gearsticks that will fit the VR or how to go about this? im sure you get plenty but some do not fit or look right, i have installed a tv in the centre console of the dash but need to change the gearstick to a short one so it can be seen better. thank you,

    my car did the same, i found the water leak towards the front of the lump, in the housing where the thermostat sits in, this is a common fault either that or the water pump
