250 to the tarmac is not a problem with a quaife and sensible throttle openings. I've got 290 and never struggle to get it down. If you're a buffoon of the lights, then yes, but under normal driving I have no issues with traction. Besides, spin is also a sign of a worn/poorly setup chassis. I added my charger to the engine at 120K and I've done 12K since, no issues. It's been dyno run at least 20 times and the engine took it no problem. Bearing noise - but constant!

You can't check front bearing play by feel unless you take the CV joint out and then wobble the hub. If the bearings have gone the steering will feel very woolly and slack and not necessarily make any noise, unless really bad! If in doubt change them because they can get bad enough to cause the outer edge of the disc to rub on the brake caliper carrier. -
APD, LOL, you mean the 'rumble'? They're pretty quiet actually mate, I only hear them slightly with medium pressures pulling up behind traffic, otherwise they're silent ;-) There's a MK3 Golf S/C at Stealth with TAROX brakes that have about 1mm clearance from the wheels, if that, LOL! Is that yours?! :-) Mattverth, not sure mate. I've driven my mate's Leon Cupra R, which has the big old 328mm Brembo setup and they're very impressive, but mainly because that car has a better chassis and better braking anyway. Cheers guys.... The disc is actually smaller than the 312 believe it or not! It's a 304x28 drilled rotor with 48 internal cooling vanes. I always thought discs were discs but these are unbelievable. Amazing quality and strength. The 312 setup weighs 15Kg per side, these bad boys weigh 10kg per side and you can really feel that in terms of handling and pulling away from the lights. Price is rather painful at £1300+VAT. You get the occasional set appear on ebay but they're rarely for a VW, but the calipers can be used from different kits, so long as they're CP5200. AMD contract out throttle enlarging and the guy that does it for them says the OBD2 throttle cannot be modified. Bummer!

I'd use Silkolene Pro S 10W/50 at that mileage personally. I've been using it mine for about 20,000 miles and it uses hardly any compared to Quantum silver.

Front Bearings are about £30+VAT each from VW IIRC...and don't use anything else, it's a false economy. You'll just be changing them again 2 years down the line. Same with the rear ones. Stick to VAG. It's an involved job doing the fronts. Hubs and bearing housings have to come off and once you do that, the geometry needs resetting, so more cost.

Yep, although it's more difficult for him to map as he can't data log lambda and knock tables like he can with OBD2, so he can't see how hard they're working, but it's all good and the man had done us proud once again :-) A guy on the Corrado forum running a 3.1, stage 2 has successfully deleted the idle valve aswell!! He's currently fitting the Schimmel log manifold and a Skyline intercooler, 12psi pulley on the way. This one should be good and will be run on the Corrado rolling road day on the 9th hopefully. There's just the surging to sort at 3500rpm and then Vince is happy to fully endor

Depending on model/sped 90, 100 and 120 are your 3 speed's trigger points. Speed 3 - black temp sender in thermostat housing Speed 1/2 - Temp sender in radiator. Ignition needs to be on to test speeds 2 and 3. Speed 1 runs with the engine switched off. There is a 3 pin plug on the radiator switch. Red/black - Speed 2. Red - Speed 1. Bridge these two pins across to the 3rd to test those speeds, and bridge the black temp sender to test speed 3. If they all work when bridged, the senders are faulty, although speed 3 very rarely comes on.... you'll know when it does as it sounds like a hovercr

Nope, OBD2 has a smaller throttle plate and a ramp, which speeds up gas flow. It's how the OBD2 get it's better response in the midrange. The OBD2 management is a lot better also.

Agreed. obd2's have the bigger throttle body anyway i believe OBD2 has the smallest throttle of the 3. All you can do with OBD2 is take the ramp off.

Have you got VAG-COM? Did you connect the thin loom from the transponder box to the OBD2 harness? Sounds like the ECU isn't happy with the signal from the transponder, or it's not getting it at all. If it is all connected up OK, your reader coil might have gone. -
Well, what can I say other than the man is an absolute genius 8) He spent 12 hours on my car today (9am to 9pm) and even worked through his lunch break in order to get a huge jobsheet completed in a day! Like Jake, I now sport a MAF-less Supercharger map and so far it's proven to be perfect. It drives just like a very healthy standard Highline, only the engine feels about 1.5 litres bigger !lol Smooth, effortless power with perfect low rpm manners and idle quality. Dumping the MAF is definitely the way to go!! Still on 290 horse, give or take a few, so all in all a very productive day. Oh

What charger and psi is it mate? Only the Zeds had the MAFs downstream of the charger and also the early stage 1 Vortechs IIRC. The Stage 2 Vortechs and above shove the MAF upstream of the charger, mainly because the charger would otherwise blow crankcase fumes onto it, but oil condenses in the intake and drips onto the MAF and filter anyway! Best thing to do is one of Vince's mafless maps. Mine's being done tomorrow. Yeah the black smoke is mega overfuelling. Mine used to chuck it out at 4500rpm with the GIAC map. The VR fans are 3 stage. Speeds 1 and 2 are triggered by the 3 pin sender in the radiator and the 3rd speed is controlled by the black temp sender in the thermostat housing. To test the fan itself is OK, unplug the rad sender plug and bridge the two outputs to the horizontal spade (one at a time) and for speed 3, bridge the black sender plug. The ignition needs to be on to test speeds 2 and 3. Speed 3 rarely ever comes on as it triggers at 120 degrees, but it's nice to know you're getting the full compliment of speeds. Makes no difference at all. Dampers are perfect on day 1 and deterioate from then on, there's no such thing as bedding them in. Oil is forced through tiny little holes in the damper piston permanently, so things get progressively worse, not better. The springs might 'settle' after 6 months or so and lower the car a bit more but just drive it as normal and enjoy it whilst the dampers are still fresh ;-) -
My car has no engine badging on it at all, best way. Just has 'Corrado' on the back with a black 'Stealth Racing' sticker underneath ;-) If on the motorway I know I'm going to get beaten, I use my classic "I'm not trying" ploy....as they struggle to get past I just sit there looking nonchalant with my arm resting on the door picking my nose and looking at the passenger seat or something, or taking a swig from the redbull can :-) For all they know, they could have struggled getting past a 16V rado! TDI boys make me laugh though.... they get a nice slug of torque over a tiny little rev range

Nope, OBD2 throttles are sealed for life, you can't do anything with them other than grind down the ramp. It's the larger butterfly that actually gives the gains, polishing does sweet fa.

I find it's usually MK2s and chipped MK4 diesels and GTIs that try and push me along the road and also MK3 VR6s...but it's a corrado thing (for me at least). The Golf VR boys seem to want to try and show that their 2.8s can keep up with a 2.9 Rado, but we all know the 2.9 isn't all that, especially against a Highline :-) I wasn't aware of any unwritten etiquette? What's this then? Golf drivers never show any community spirit to me, in fact, Rado drivers don't either. I always flash MK2 drivers as I've had loads of them but they look at me blankly, miserable gets! I'll never forget the time

Scholar engines can do it. www.scholarengines.co.uk They can also bore at 15 degrees and any other engine work. They're excellent and race prep engines. They're on the A140 near that big TV mast half way between Ipswich and Norwich.

MT90 with Slick50 gearbox additive (or Activ-8 friction reducer)....it's the mutts, best I've tried in 16 years of VW ownership.

Those XXL throttles don't actually have a bigger butterfly. Alpina527@aol.com (Ian) does throttles with bigger butterflies, about 63mm I think (2mm more than standard). You can also get 67mm VR throttles and it's huuuuuge! The best way to improve engine pick up for £200 is lighten the flywheel. It's about 15lbs as standard, take it down to 7lbs and the engine will spin up like it's on drugs.
