  1. DubVR6 ? VW VR6 Club? VR6 Club UK?
  2. The club probably wants to cover all VW VR6 models, doesn't it? Corrado, Passat, 4Motion & R32 owners should be accepted! ClubVR6 is nice and generic. [ Edited Wed May 12 2004, 10:12AM ]
  3. Mine was from a local accessory shop, not GSF. By the sounds of it, GSF must buy up all the rejects....
  4. I've just noticed a scraping noise coming from the right hand front of the car. It only happens when turning left. At the straight-ahead it's fine. Has anybody else had this? Could it be the wheel bearings?
  5. The "generic" aftermarket VR6 spoiler allows that 1/2 an inch in the centre so that it can be fitted to Mk2 (big bumper) models, where the bumper is about 1/2 inch narrower than the mk3. However, there shouldn't be any holes showing like in your picture. Check that it was fitted properly. If the fitting's OK, send it back and get it replaced. If the gap in the centre still bugs you, it's pretty straightforward to get some bumper filler in there, smooth it over and respray it. To be honest, unless you look closely, it's not that noticable. See my picture below right, which was taken 2m away
  6. Go for a genuine VW part. Pattern parts (from Europarts, GSF etc) do not fit particularly well.
  7. I don't believe it. The breather pipe on my VR (see first post) has failed again. ~ ~ ~ Once more, my interior stinks of burning oil. Can the bloody thing be replaced with something that will last? Part numbers anyone? [ Edited Fri May 07 2004, 08:23PM ]
  8. Vince at Stealth recommended the Schrick 264 Cams in combination with the Shrick VGI Manifold. If you can hold on 'till May 24th, I can show you the torque & bhp plots for it, from my VR!!! Can't wait!!!
  9. My pet hate is the rear wiper. You never really know whether it's on or not.
  10. Clifford alarms when fitted with all the add-ons tend to run your battery flat if you leave the car standing too long. The Toad system is much better in this respect. Grayo94, do you have a link to the insurance legislation you referred to? My Insurance Company never told me about this. Sneaky gits.
  11. Looks similar to the Dietrich RS4 bumper. Here's a good link for Golf front bumpers: http://www.ra-design.co.uk/shop/productList.asp?catID=108
  12. Is the heat shield still attached to the bottom of the CAT?
  13. Schrick 264 Cams work well with the VGI Manifold. They boost top end power without sacrificing the low-end torque that the manifold gives you. These are £550+VAT+Fitting. If your car is an OBD1 (pre-1996) model, it will benefit from a gas flowed throttle body also. A cold air intake filter (such as the BMC CDA or PiperX Viper), plus a decent exhaust should be worth another 7-10bhp with all the above fitted. Get a full ECU remap done after fitting of all the above and you should have in the region of 225bhp (depending on the condition of your engine) with decent torque figures. Audi S3 terri
  14. I looked into this. It's £1500 worth of work minimum, so acf8181 is right.
  15. Audi fit the 3.2 24v VR6 in the A3, A4 & TT now, but I think this is the first VR6 engine they've used. This passage has some interesting info on the VR6 engine and it's spin-offs (W8 etc): http://autozine.kyul.net/technical_school/engine/tech_engine_packaging.htm [ Edited Tue May 04 2004, 04:43PM ]
  16. Nick, with the throttle body and the manifold fitted, go for a rolling road remap. The result should be a car that's noticably quicker than standard!
  17. Didn't Audi use a totally different V6 engine in the 90's (i.e. not a VR6)?
  18. Is your engine otherwise standard, Nick, or have you done other mods?
  19. So did you manage to sort out your broken breather pipe?
  20. Speedo, where did you get those cool blue ignition leads from?
  21. VWMadGirl, It would have broken eventually anyway, so don't worry about it.
  22. Use the Bentley Manual for engine & gearbox stuff, and the Haynes Golf Mk3 manual for everything else.
  23. Thanks for the response. Suppose it's only a matter of time before the headgasket goes, so I'll be sure to get the springs done at the same time.
  24. Exactly the same thing happened on mine. It's obviously a weak point. It's not damaging to the engine AFAIK, but if left it will drip oil onto the exhaust manifold below causing a horrid stink in the car. You can either replace the entire plastic tract assembly (£75+VAT from VW) or try to glue & seal it. I did the former after trying (and failing) to do the latter. I dont know about blocking off the valve and replacing the crankcase end with a filter, but it sounds reasonable. All that pipe does is allow excess gas in the crankcase to be vented. It vents it back to the intake as this
  25. Totally Phat wheels man!
