  1. maybe i spoke too soon!! having felt it didn't do much on the mkII, i cleaned the vr6 and didn't bother using the clay bar...results, well, if you run your hand lightly over both cars and compare, the mkII is silky smooth and the vr6 feels slightly rough! will use it next time i think!
  2. could be the diff (so not engine at all)...really hard to say though without actually hearing it.
  3. suspect they were almost seized then....mine were as easy as flippin a pancake! lol
  4. i would hunt for a perfect condition second hand tailegate in the same colour as your car so you can just throw it on and smile. make sure it's got glass in though as its bonded in (and have to be a gti/vr6/driver as it has holes for spoiler)
  5. just repeating what i read in more than one workshop manual.
  6. any chance of being a bit more acurate...whine on decelaration perhaps?
  7. shoudl never bump start a car with a cat.
  8. don't be silly , it won't have hurt the caliper (unless you snap a seal)....if yuo don't turn it as you push it simply won't retraact, same goes for just turning and not pushing.
  9. well, the teams have to 'maximise' the rules, if they don't they'll be nowhere. f1 is all about pushing things to the limit. i have got hold of the defence case as well now....its on autosports site, but you have to be registered to read it so i can't hotlink...is also too big to copy and paste. but its almost funnily pathetic and is certainly a weak case. 10. ok....i've tried it out on my mkII...and to be honest, it didn't blow my mind. maybe my cars are just quite clean anyway, better test woudl be on my mothers crapalier (she abuses it).
  11. well, the car is only usually drained quickly....they wouldn't normally inspect the tank with an endoscope (which was when they found the hidden cell). i suspect someone tipped them off.
  12. well....they were only running under fuel in the middle of the race....maybe upto 10kg, which is worth upto half a secon a lap...which equates to about 15 secs over the whole race, and that can be the difference between 1st and 6th! it also makes defending easier, and passing easier.
  13. i'm not sure how much each one will effect 0-60.....but as for top end, the o.e. ratio's (3.3 FD) will do a theretical 170mph ish (car will never have the power/aero to do that), where as with the 3.6 it will only do 140mph (or 120 with the 3.94)......thats a huge difference so i'd have expected a minimum of half a second to 60 decrease (in fact, i'd be reckoning maybe a second even)....but they're total guesses.
  14. was sent this pdf by a mate, explaining it all...is very interesting reading.... http://www.btg-media.com/fia/fia_v_bar_the_evidence.pdf does appear to be pretty blatant on the face of that evidence...worth remembering thats the prosecutions case though so we're only hearing one side of the story. the jist of it though is that BAR will have been able to run underweight (by maybe upto 10kg, which is about half second a lap) in the middle stints of the race....by draining this secondary cell before first pitstop and leaving it empty, then refilling it at final stop. 20. weird, i'd have thought an MAF fault should triger a code. have you had a compression test done? [ Edited Wed May 04 2005, 03:53PM ]
