  1. The problem turned out to be a fault ignition switch. So if everything appears to be OK but it your car wont start, this may be your problem (Im told by my mate at VW that this fault is not uncommon, this was the first thing he suggested).
  2. How can I test or bypass the immobiliser?
  3. I came home for lunch and the VR6 was running fine. Tried to start it 30mins later and the engine just turns over with no signs of firing up. There appears to be no spark. I though it was the ignition amplifier/coil but I have replaced it and it is the same. Any ideas please?
  4. Trackman Thanks for the link to the thread, excellent detail, it will be a great help. Cheers Philboyvr6
  5. Thanks acf8181 you comfirmed the bad news (I could see no other way of doing it). Does anyone know of any special tools that are needed or anything else that I should know? Are there other threads that might help?
  6. Hi All I have removed the head from my 1993 VR6 (water seeping form the back of the head gasket) and have found that some of the lining material on the tensioning blade has broken away, therefore, I need to replace the complete blade. My problem is I cant see an easy way of removing it. Do I need to remove the gearbox to get access to the cover remove the cover and then slide the blade out, or is there an easier way? Can anyone tell me how to do the replacement? Thanks
