There are a lot of bhp & lbft figures floating around this forum now from various rr over the country....some will be more accurate than others. I look forward to stealth where we'll be able to get a more accurate comparassion
My torque was higher than my bhp at the rr I went to a couple of months ago....181.2bhp & 181.4lbft for a standard 97 vr That seems very high for a wheel figure....mine made 135@ the wheels..Your car must have respond very well to the mods you've done, and have had alot less transmission loss than mine...well done mate
Sorry to hear that m8 Not sure how it can be avoided really...if it had oil and gave know warning then your just unlucky i think! Have know idea about the price, but if the engine is being sold with x many miles id want proof! Some people may be put off the car if its on its second engine so don?t bother telling them! I would look into a good 2.9 over a 2.8 if you have the option......not sure if the gear ratios are the same or if they have different size drive shafts though.......1.8t would be a headache to put in but very tuneable...The car should drive just as well with a replacement engine
Sorry mate..german swedish & french...They specialise in pattern parts and a limited range of performance parts too they have stores thought the country www.gsfcarparts.com Yes I got a local body shop to colour code the shells...I have seen people leave the shells the colour they come, but the job just looks half finished
The lights on mine come from g&s...same as Pete s, they cost around £200....you can buy different makes from other vw specialists but I think the tinted hellas look best
At a rr day I went to last month, one of the earlier vrs had a de cat.... it produced about the same as the one with the cat....I don?t thing there is much to be gained on the vrs unless the engine has had some serious mods...the re map may squeeze a bit more out of it though....Turbo cars tend to respond better to a de cat than naturally aspirated ones!
Has the car always pulled to one side or is it a recent thing....does it wear out tyres on the shoulders...has the car been lowered or have you clipped a kerb... I once bent my wish bone only very slightly but it was enough to throw the car out...If the tracking checks out ok......pulling to one side can be a tell tale sign of crash damage!
Moody ...I took the car up to g&s over the weekend to show them how bad it looked...I didn?t take it off though..they agreed that I wasn?t right and Have ordered me another....If this is as bad, iam getting my money back!
Its not that I don?t trust john Austin...my mk 2 was serviced their for most of its life, I know there good but it would break the full vw service history...The main resin I bought my vr was the complete history..and when I come to sell the car I can say to the next owner that is still got that...If the car had no history at all I would service it my self...all major repair work on the car I can do my self as I have the use of a mates garage but I need that vw stamp every 10000miles
I was going to swap it for a replacement; if that was as bad a fit I would have got my money back.... Might just take it down to g&s anyway see what they say?
My vr has been drinking 10-40 magnatec semi synthetic from new.....The last owner specified it at every service from vw....I?ve changed now to mobil 10-40 as its what they use at my local vw dealer
To make things worse, I took it off on Saturday to change it for another and found out the underside is scratched to s***...Now I?m stuck with it ~...Might get one from vw or a fibreglass one from swg 8)
