kezwaldo 0
i see everyone has these cda air filters induction kits just how good are they ? do u notice a big change in power ,peformance etc they seem very exspensive laso are they worth it????
Lukey. 381
yes they are a bit expensive but yes they do their job very well, carbon fibre is a great heat insulator. The sound they make is worth the money in grins alone.Watch ebay like a hawk and youll pick on up cheap
yakuza racer 16
i have another thoery to the CDA's and aftermarket air filters.the vr6 runs with a MAS right at the end where the filter is connected, now the extra heat and vibrations caused by the aftermarket airfilter would result in the MAS not lasting too long, the sound is great but are you willing to stuff up a MAS for some extra sound?thoughts? oldmandon 1
They only vibrate badly if you don't use a fixing bracket, which is what I do.
FishWick 21
Several years ago Stealth Racing did before and after dyno runs (standard MK3 VR6) with a BMC CDA 85-150, and it freed off 7hp. I have yet to see any other filter come close to that. You also get the same 7hp whether or not you add the cold air ducting pipe.
Biggazvr6 0
I see people mention the sound, but tbh, I dint find the Sound that great. It's not a match compared to a knN Kone, but obviously the Bmc wont heat soak like a Cone filter.
ssaunders 199
Hi Kez, just bought secondhand box from fleabay and did this modhttp://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?2837772-DIY-COMPLETE-very-detailed-airbox-intake-modification-write-up.the noise is mad on WOT people just stop and stare! also did a run to Bournemouth and averaged 30 mpg @ 75 + popped to Seabrights the other day but you were not about, drop me a line and come listen.regardsS.sorry forgot to add, i left honeycomb and velocity stack in place (after reading comments)S
Timah89 1
why move the honeycomb from just before the MAF though? surely that is bad as several people raised already on Vortex??just buy a CDA 2nd hand or a cone with a heat shield (shields are like £10 from eBAy)
spadam 7
Dont remove the honeycomb is straigtens the air to give acurate reading on the maf. Your choice though
Lukey. 381
only an idiot would remove the mesh on the MAF
