right back onto today progress.............

about a year ago i managed to rescue these wheels from an old spraypainters yard for £40, they were in real bad shape!!!!!!!!!

i'm not a big fan of them tbh but the thought of old wheels geeting scrapped makes me ill.

i took them to a coater to see if he could make them good and then coat them out in sparkling silver.............

no problems to him!!!!!!!

got some new rear tyres..............

off with the old randars..........they are going away to get powdered the same white as my bumpers, hurst etc then going back on!!!!!!!!

when i removed the wheels it was time to paint out the white over spray with satin black to give a nice crisp neat finish..................

well i spent monday and tuesday evenings down the buslane doing some bits n bobs....................

oh and went out rippin in the industrial est in the bus with no doors etc, was dam good fun! :ninja:

next was a job i was not looking forward to.........................drilling into my new paint!!!!! lol...............

now onto one seriously boring job, had to insulate the back and side to try and stop sound travelling into the cab area, the A1 exhaust and carbs are very loud especially on the motorway over 3500rpm!..............

15mm plywood that covers above engine, hit it both sides with insulation to keep engine noise at bay!!!!...........

Fantastic update. I bet you are getting excited now. Any idea's on when and where it will have its debut?

its first show will be a private uk sbs meet on 13-15th may down in chedder, sommerset..............an 8hr drive there will test its reliability!!!!!

then it will be at the big scottish vw show at the end of may.

i will be keeping it low key this year so i can concentrate on building an interior and will hit the big show next year with the boys or my family!!!!!

as above repeat with another 3 doors, the cargo doors were a pain in the rear end..........

when i first hung them there was no clearance up the middle, took a while but got them fitting just nice............not perfect to be honest, dam close though lol!!!!!!

that just left me with my rear window hatch, rear engine valance panel and engine hatch!!!!!

all is good shape just needed heavily blocked to remove any high spots!.................

here is my report from fridays graft................

cargo door lock has bugged me for a while as it never worked as smoothly as vw intended!!!!!!

all my plywood will be fully trimmed just not got time as i want to enjoy the bus this summer with my family!!!!!!!

dug out my old high level panel as these were already curved, gave the a wee coat of matt black to freshen them up..................

the job that you cant see that took me hrs was my door seals had a lot of trimming etc to get them to fit, pain in the butt!!!!!!

i think i am going to have to trim the bottom of my hurst as its sitting 35mm off the ground and scrapes pretty much constaintly!!!!!

Quality this is! Great work!! :)

The front beam on my bug sits 40mm from the floor and that scraps on everything too, especially with the state of the roads around here, I collected a dustpan full of road chippings from behind the beam that had collected over the last year.
