richierich37 236 Posted April 9, 2011 Author Report Share Posted April 9, 2011 right back onto today progress.............about a year ago i managed to rescue these wheels from an old spraypainters yard for £40, they were in real bad shape!!!!!!!!!i'm not a big fan of them tbh but the thought of old wheels geeting scrapped makes me ill.i took them to a coater to see if he could make them good and then coat them out in sparkling silver.............no problems to him!!!!!!!got some new rear tyres..............off with the old randars..........they are going away to get powdered the same white as my bumpers, hurst etc then going back on!!!!!!!! richierich37 236 Posted April 14, 2011 Author Report Share Posted April 14, 2011 well i spent monday and tuesday evenings down the buslane doing some bits n bobs....................oh and went out rippin in the industrial est in the bus with no doors etc, was dam good fun! :ninja: front arches overspray................wheels off and away to the tyre man to be changed to new wheels...............masked off new paint then blacked out arches with matt rattle can................and my csp big front disc conversion.................new wheels back on and kaboom, narrowed beam luvin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....................finished off my petrol cap area with another wee spray of matt black................next was a job i was not looking forward to.........................drilling into my new paint!!!!! lol...............new fm arial............now onto one seriously boring job, had to insulate the back and side to try and stop sound travelling into the cab area, the A1 exhaust and carbs are very loud especially on the motorway over 3500rpm!..............the gear............the job started...............lost interest so left it till the tuesday and straight back into it!!!!..............above engine area complete.............shame i have to hide all my new paintwork! lol............onto the side panels now................with added hurst!..............well thats all for now.............................leaving my doors etc for the boys to do so they turn out superb to match the job they have done on my main bus!cheers guys..................... richierich37 236 Posted April 24, 2011 Author Report Share Posted April 24, 2011 good progress this week, the end is in my sights!!!!!picked up my bumpers from the powdercoater, superb job as per..............jacked up ready for bolting............and fitted................was sooooo excited about fitting my hurst i forgot to take mid-progress snaps!!!!!fitted..............a wee look at how low it sits now...........got a delivery of goods fron C and C...........new hella indicators.........old off...........new german quality og lhd cab mat..........now onto the inside, wanted all walls insulated so here we go............then out with the waxoil...........down the inner sills............out with some 4mm plywood, it will be trimmed eventually!!!!!!!!was having so much fun i went insulation crazy and moved onto the roof and high wall areas..............this was the kit i scored!..............and fitted...........15mm plywood that covers above engine, hit it both sides with insulation to keep engine noise at bay!!!!...........fitted..............now for the major work, my mate has got my doors into paint and i will be fitting them on tuesday night!!!!!...........doors hanging after some repairs to get them super straight and smooth...........into primer..............flatening..............and finally pure candy, pearl white super smooth doors!!!!!...........by this time next week hopefully have the doors, locks and seals all tied up!!!!!see ya................... Any idea's on when and where it will have its debut?cheers dude!!!!its first show will be a private uk sbs meet on 13-15th may down in chedder, sommerset..............an 8hr drive there will test its reliability!!!!!then it will be at the big scottish vw show at the end of may.i will be keeping it low key this year so i can concentrate on building an interior and will hit the big show next year with the boys or my family!!!!!cheers again................. richierich37 236 Posted April 28, 2011 Author Report Share Posted April 28, 2011 been hard at it this week when i finish my own work been straight down the bus for some graft!!!!!..............take one of these...............a few of these.............and as if by magic............freshly painted striker plates.............all ironmongery fitted.............as above repeat with another 3 doors, the cargo doors were a pain in the rear end..........when i first hung them there was no clearance up the middle, took a while but got them fitting just nice............not perfect to be honest, dam close though lol!!!!!!that just left me with my rear window hatch, rear engine valance panel and engine hatch!!!!!all is good shape just needed heavily blocked to remove any high spots!.................once Steve was happy with his finish he hit them with primer...........unfortunatly i have no work on site until tuesday so that means i can hit my bus for a few full shifts to get all the small jobs complete ready for my mate to MOT next week!!!!!cheers....................... richierich37 236 Posted May 1, 2011 Author Report Share Posted May 1, 2011 here is my report from fridays graft................cargo door lock has bugged me for a while as it never worked as smoothly as vw intended!!!!!!old one..........when i removed it, it exploded into bits...........good old ebay £4 for a genuine minter..............then back onto insulating the cargo doors with kingspan..............then on with the plywood door cards.............all my plywood will be fully trimmed just not got time as i want to enjoy the bus this summer with my family!!!!!!!dug out my old high level panel as these were already curved, gave the a wee coat of matt black to freshen them up..................next i moved into the cab zone and fitted my door cards..............again dug out my old kick cards and fitted in position to hide all the dodgy wiring!!!!!! lol.............managed to get my wee shiney mirrors on too.............and lastly painted my steering post matt black................the job that you cant see that took me hrs was my door seals had a lot of trimming etc to get them to fit, pain in the butt!!!!!!i think i am going to have to trim the bottom of my hurst as its sitting 35mm off the ground and scrapes pretty much constaintly!!!!!nearly finished will be hanging my rear end panels tomorrow then later in week will be the dreaded MOT time!!!!!!stay tuned for more updates soon! lol................. The front beam on my bug sits 40mm from the floor and that scraps on everything too, especially with the state of the roads around here, I collected a dustpan full of road chippings from behind the beam that had collected over the last year.Good luck with the MOT! richierich37 236 Posted May 8, 2011 Author Report Share Posted May 8, 2011 a bit arse from elbow as its back on the road but here is the final hrs of the external build up..............rear valance panel trimmed and licked.......petrol flappy bit...............was that impressed with my sound deadening material went a bit mental and.............before...........during..............after............no vibrating metal here!!!!!!!!!hit the bottom of my hurst with the grider to give me another 20mm clearance..............rear hatch freshly painted and fitted..............rear end taking shape!!!!!!!!engine hatch fitted and bumper re aligned............now the worst bit of my whole build the cab door window, absolute pigs, very footery (is that a word, lol)...........painted and chillin...........me doing what i do best!!!!!.............and fitted.............next was to fit my cherised number...........and head up for a mot............first time!!!!!!!and lastly back home on my drive...............so thats it for now until the interior starts!!!!!!!since its been all about me and my splittie we thought we should treat my wife to a new car too!!!!! picked it up on friday, awesome bit of machinery............VW PASSAT CC GT...........its going back into VW on wed for a wheel upgrade.........19" lugano's please! ;-) Link to post Share on other sites
