Recommended Posts

i had my mk2 insured with HIC fuly comp with everything declared on agreed valuation for £420 a year..........however, when i bought the vr (standard) they wouldn't cover me 8-)

after talking with a supervisor i got cover on a rolling contract for £177/month (rip off i know), i did this for a few months then took it off the road, i've since turned 25 but i'm still struggling to get below £550 for a standard car.

i've got 5 years no claims, driving for 7 years, no points, car is social use only in a good postcode limited to 5k a year

i pay 580 with sky insurance, they support the forum and lowered their quote to match the lowest i had found. Im 24 been driving 7 years, 7 years no claims, no convictions. All mods declared. Pretty much the same postcode... Give them a try... :)

I've just been quoted £550. No mods, garaged, 4k a year in manchester. If your gonna tell just a little lie to insurance, you may aswell go all out!! I do about 15k, parked on the street, supercharged. If they ask, thats how I bought and I know nothing about cars and it lives in my parents garage. Does have a tracker though which adds £20 a year to my insurance which is a little disappointing!!!

So what you're saying is you're basically driving round in an uninsured car then, and you're announcing it on a public forum...smart move.

F*cks me off when people lie to insurance companies. My old man and i got hit by an uninsured driver who jumped the lights. Wrote our car off and nearly killed me (my side of the car he smashed into at 70mph). He got out car and ran away.

My old man and i got f*ck all compo coz the lad wasn't insured and in the long run my old man ended up paying out coz that tight a*sed f*cker either couldn't afford his insurance or thought he was clever by not insuring it.

Not big, not clever.

Back to topic, i pay £585 (was £525 but moved to the centre of town) all mods declared with Adrian Flux

With Admiral F/C, legal cover, ect.

5yrs NC, no points

all 5 mods declared.... £603.

Renewal due on 11th November with Admiral....£995....why the price hike?!...6yrs N/C on 11th...so price SHOULD drop.

Adrian Flux have quoted me £517 to start on 11th....so guess who I'm going with? :D

Yer Direct Line wanted to hike my renewal up and then a bit more after i told them i wanted to mod some more!! Adrian Flux were the opposite, the more mods i had the lower it went!!! The lass on the phone quoted me a price and then after chatting to her for a bit and mulling over prices she went back to her manager to see if she could get a better price. When she came back she said he had refused but if it was ok with me she would take my number and give me a call in a couple of days coz a different manager was in then and apparently he was nicer according to her!! Sure enough she rang me back with a £100 discount off the first quote they gave me!! Well chuffed!

I passed my test last July, Im 20 years old with 1 years NCB and pay £116 a month for my VR which is only third party, fire and theft! My annual premium is about £1200-ish with Kwik Fit.

I have tried specialist insurers, a couple wouldnt even quote me and the others were well over £2k. Alot of money to pay but its well worth it :) Just gotta wait for my NCB to build up, and the fact im not even 21 yet plays a big part.
