VR6 Dilemma

Recommended Posts

Here's the score,

Had my VR6 for nearly a month now. Bought it for less than peanuts as the box was dead. It is now back on the road and I love it. Grin factor is huge. It needs a few bits and pieces doing on it but it is basically very good. The problem is I bought it from my other half's ex and to say she is not happy about it is an understatement. The original plan was to buy it, get it back on the road and sell it. Problem is I dont know if I can part with it now.

Do I keep the VR or not ?

Oh dear! That is a real dilema. I had a 280bhp RS Turbo once (I know it was a Ford, I know. Please don't give me grief!) But I spent a fortune on it and I did love it. I moved in with my ex and I got constant grief from her about it. In the end I ended up selling it because of her, and she fucked up one of the 17ich Azev A's parking it the day before I sold it. I regreted selling it ever since. Needless to say we split up. My current missus loves the VR (or should I say she tollerates it). Doesn't like me racing M3's through lanes though! If the griefs still bad in a month or so and you are serious with her, I'm afraid its bye, bye VR :(

i like rs turbos and i love cosworths (runs and hides to avoid being beaten to death)

Nah, I wouldn't do that, Cosworth's aint your average Ford now are they. :P;) I doubt if there are many people on here that would say no to a nice one if it was offered to them. :P

I did contemplate buying a cossy instead of my VR. But you need silly money to keep the damn things on the road! I helped a mate of mine build a Westfield a few years ago. He bought the kit just after he rote his cossy off. And yes, you guessed it, the motor went in the westfield. Proper grin factor guys. It was shit top end, but needless to say the damn thing stayed with a Fireblade one day on a sliproad to 110mph then the Blade said goodbye. It was funny seeing this guy look over his shoulder at 80 and do a double take! That motor was a bloody nightmare though, it was in and out of tuning companies like you wouldn't believe. Interpro, VAN Atken all over the damn UK.

We went to Castle Combe on a Golf action day with it, it did 3 laps (Pissing on everything) then a sensor came off the flywheel and it was bye bye. Saffire Cossi's are a bit chavish, but I wouldn't say no to a mint RS 500 or a Escort. You reckon?

Any rim size greater than 15" disqualifies the girlfriend from driving my car.
