matth76 1
HiIt's renewal time and was disappointed to find my insurance had gone up almost £50 from £430 to £475. I'm 31, 9 years protected no claims, no points, no convictions. My car's declared mods are lowered suspension, non-standard air filter, non-standard exhaust. I park on the street overnight (oddly this actually reduced my insurance from when I used to park on a drive!). My insurance is with Elephant. So I rang them up to find out why it had gone up and they gave some excuse about their rates going up this year. I lied to them and said I had a couple of quotes from other companies with a premium of less than 400. So I asked them to see if they could beat it and get under 400. Best they could do was quote 430 which is what I was on last year. So at least they dropped it 50 from what it was. Still not satisified. A ten year old car, no claims in 9 yrs, no points, 31 yrs old and still paying over £400. Are there any other good companies I can approach for a quote, that allow some basic mods such as mine? I can't rely on the websites like confused.com and similar sites as they are high street companies and many hate mods.Anyone else similar age to me with similar mods - what premium do you pay?Cheers for any help. matth76 1
Anyone actually had to claim or get your ins. co to deal with an accident caused by a third party to your car? How good were they? It's when you actually need to claim or use them that you find out how good they really are.Cheers for any help.

mike 6
i pay 400 with brenacre , 25 5years protected ncb...i paid 730 with them last year and the renewal came thru at 550...but i rang a flux and got a qoute for 400 and brentacre matched it.. i stayed with brentacre mainly cus they dont charge admin fees fror aditional mods like a-flux (50 for each new mod) altho both was ona modified car scheme where the policy doesnt go up for new mods (excpt charger /turbo)i forgot to check elephant this year

descb600f 0
Im with Sky through here I savede nearly £100 so my membership fee was well worth it.I would avoid elephant like the plague, I wrote my first VR6 off with them payed £2800 and 3 weeks later they offered me £1750 and if I wanted more I had to justify the higher price. As I didn't buy from a dealer I had no reciept so the price payed 3 weeks previous could not be taken into account.By the way Elephant is owned by Admiral who also own at least one more, I would highly recommend you avoid them. descb600f 0
Think I should say I payed £360 fully comp with the lowered suspension and exhaust declared (oh and my £2800 claim 4 years ago).I should say I'm 34 and living in ruralish scotland mind.Ahhh at least there was one good thing as you get older. hellsVR6 0
Hmmm...mine was £458 or thereabouts with the AA. I'm 36, 10 yrs NCB (and protected)...It's a postcode lottery!! And also the fact that my marital status is now 'divorced/single' that doesn't help. But I have a 'responsible' job (I'm a banker). I also have to have business mileage on my policy cos I do have to travel now and again an my company won't pay out unless I'm insured to drive whilst working bollix, so that adds about £30 p.a. onto the premium.Adrian Flux actually quoted me over £500. Most other co's were well over £800, course I chuckled. Never paid more than I am NOW for insurance in my life! I think forty odd quid a month is more than enough..especially with the enormous petrol bill to go with it..lol
