mike 6
yum, wanna swap for some audi rs4s? and a packet of quavers
Mr_GTI 0
ohhh nice!!! I likeee a lot, you'll have to forgive me but is the resistor just so the airbag light stays off? a mate of mine with another mk3 (GTI 16v) has a momo wheel on it and is happy for the light to stay on - will this cause any damage??
Mr_GTI 0
BTW I take it that a highline comes without the plastic sill covers??
purple highline monster 0
yeah the resistor just plugs into the end of the ribbon,so it "tricks" the light to operate as normal as if airbag was connected, if it stays on it should fail an mot! tell him to take the bulb out, if you switch the ignition on when its unplugged you have to have it coded out on 1551 machine at vw, just for anyone else whos considering getting rid of the drivers airbag, vw only list it for the passenger side, this is the same part for the driivers side one £22+vat from vw, £9 from Awesome!! (it was meant for early cars that didnt have an airbag on passenger side, but the wiring loom is still the same, so needs a resistor in the passenger side plug) Highlines/most late Mk3 golfs never came with sill covers or arches, vw deleted them on 95/96 cars
Mr_GTI 0
my old mk3 Colour concept failed the MOT for not have the bulb!! so had to get a blank from a non abs/airbag car!! his MOTer let him off as he told him the whell was no longer an airbag one.My 97 VR has the cover on the sills is this right? I looked at yours and thought about taking mine off
purple highline monster 0
Suppose if its not got an airbag wheel the light dont matter either way! dunno about the side sills on yours? i know highlines didnt have them but i do recall seing some other later vr`s with them now you mention it! sure someone will know if its unusual or as per factory, if you like them keep em on, your motor looks nice, red is a good colour for a golf, i have had 3 red ones, mk1 gti, a Rallye, and my Mk1 sportline cabriolet i just bought, proper hairdressers car! Mr_GTI 0
I have a real soft spot for the mk1 - even run the mk1 oc for Norfolk - The sportline is a great car with the best seats a VW can have!!. Focker-out 0
My my you are spending and the car looks spot on with the RSs on, what did you do with the RHs??Mr GTi only highlines came without sill covers regular VR6s came with them
purple highline monster 0
RH`s have been moved on to a new home, loved them wheels and the look they gave the car but always wanted a set of 17" RS`s and it was to good a deal to miss,I shelved my plans for my R32 till a bit later and still love the VR so thought i would lavish the "old gal" while she`s with me, i will probably keep these rims forever!!! dont think they made too many sets and these are date stamped 92 so guess they are pretty rare in VW 5 stud fitment, doing a few other touches too, just wanna wait till its all done to take some "finished" pics
